Ok the annual AMSA Convention is on in Brisbane this year and I'm going! (Although I only got partial tieckets -__-) However we have a social each night, and each one has a different theme, that we have to dress up for and I'm rather stumped for ideas but I thought since you are all amazingly imaginative people if anyone had suggestions would they mind sharing? The first night is Ancient Civilisations and I think the second is Renaissance.

if you were a good seamstress (or could get one to make your costume for cheap) or had money enough to buy, i have several suggestions. with enough cleverness you could probably pull the effect off inexpensively and with only your own creativity, though.
ancient civilizations: ancient Egypt. the gods and goddesses had the heads of animals. fun! renaissance: can't help you much there. i wish i could get you in contact with my friend Kelsey, who is an amazingly good artist. she makes her own costumes for Renfest. (Renfest = renaissance festival, which travels around the US and is basically a haven for all the geeks who like to hang out in a simulated middle ages setting)

I really like the idea of Egy[tian God or Goddess...and if i get the right mask I think I could pull it off. Thanks for the help Des! The last night I am going to is released and it's Matrix, so basically just futristic like and I think I know what I am going to do for that one, but again if anyone has ideas I am more than happy to hear them ^^
