Yarrow grows to about one meter, and is a dense and flat plant with either white or pink flower heads from summer to fall. The peppery leaf is finely chopped into salads as a seasoning. Flowering tops are a digestive and cleaning tonic, a diuretic, and used to reduce high blood pressure. Fresh leaves arrest bleeding and are applied as a poultice to wounds or are placed on shaving cuts. Its flowers threat eczema, and catarrh from allergies. The flower's essential oils treat colds, the flu, and inflammed joints. The root is used as decoction to strengthen muscles. Adding one finely chopped fresh leaf to each wheelbarrow full speeds composting. Chewing fresh leaves from the plant aids toothache. The tea soothes digestive problems, regulates menstrual flow, induces perspiration, and cleanses the system. Also used as a mouthwash for inflammed gums and to treat acne.
Warning: Avoid during pregnancy. Overdose can make skin sensitive to sunlight.
