Weyr: Crystal Cavern
Name: J'ran (Jacahran)
Gender:Male
Sexuality: Herterosexual
Rank: Wing second? Whatever's needed ^^
Age: 25
Appearence: To J'ran's utter disgust he stopped growing at 16 Turns, just short of the average height for Pernese males. He had hoped to achieve the height of his father, however is sseemed J'ran was fated to forever look up to his father.
Aside from this he has no qualms with his reflection, and if he did not receieve his father's height, it seems as if almost everything else gentically bestowed upon him did derive from the paternal side. His face is rectangular shaped form forehead to the maxilla of his jaw. His mandible tapers into a shallow bottomed curve, giving his face a rather long appearance. More often than not, you will find dark stubble along the jaw line, across the chin and skimming his upper lip. Note, it's never actual facial hair, it is debatable whether he can even grow a beard or moustache, but enough that it seems like he has a dark fuzz growing on his face.
His lips are rather thin, and asymmetrical. The right side of his lip appears slightly longer than the left.
J'ran's nose is long and narrow with a dusting of mostly unnoticebale freckles. His eyes are hazel, a mixture of grey, brown and green, the the darker coloring at the iris and then become lighter further away. He has black, moderate eyebrows that match the exact shade of his hair. His hair is worn just above his ears and temple and is moderately short, enough length for it to stick up in the mornings but nowehere enough to be considered long. His skin is quite pale, as suits the Northern climate he has spent his whole life in.
J'ran has never much been into clothing and the choosing of it, often grabbing the first clean thing he can lay his hands on, though he did make more of an effort for Gelian; the woman often buying clothes she thought would suit the bronzerider.
Personality: J'ran was always the adventorous type as a child, and not much changed in adulthood, except that with a dragon he could venture further and accomplish more. He had to try everything at least once, believing himself impervious, even when warned against doing so. If he learnt, by participation, the outcome was not so pleasant he would learn his lesson and move on, however there always seemed to be something else to be tested and tried.
He was decisive in any choices he made and would not move on from a task unless the previous one was accomplished, though he would easily got impatient and frustrated at times when things did not work the way he wanted them to.
The bronzerider was boisterous and enthusiastic, at his best when in the company of others, easily identifiable by his loud voice and ready laugh. Not always tactful, he often would say what came to his head, only thinking after the words left his mouth that perhaps they should have been left unsaid.
He had a streak of the competitor about him, the desire to perform the best spurring him on in life, whether it be in the air, with women or at a game of cards.
Unfortunately the untimely death of Gelian has sapped most of his personality and these days he is a surly man, who only welcomes the company of Minimeth, performing his duties with lack-lustre.
History: At the age when their friends were having children, try as they did Sachi did not once fall pregnant. Disappointed the couple decided they were just not meant to be parents and moved on with their lives, enjoying their life at the Vitner Hall. No doubt it came as quite a surprise when a trip to the Healers confirmed Sachi was pregnant at 36. With the her later-life pregnancy she ran into complications with high blood pressure and oedema of the legs, and while the labour was hard, she gave birth to a healthy, baby boy. The couple were thrilled with their son, bequeathing him the name Jacahran.
Jacharan was an inquisitive child, constantly sticking hands into anything he could find, placing small objects in his mouth, and pushing the boundaries set by his parents. Bewildered by the child's exuberance with both parents such calm people, they had to be on constant vigilance to ensure the child did not choke or put himself in mortal danger. Once he learned to form sentences he asked incessant questions, only to have one answered before asking another.
Having decided at a young age he wanted to be a dragonrider, he refused to learn the Vitner's craft despite his parents cajoling and encoragement. He was too young to drink the wine, why would he want to help make it?
He was Searched for Crystal Cavern half way through his twelfth Turn, and Impressed Bronze Minimeth, the last bronze of his Clutch to Hatch. Jacharan, now J'ran, could not keep the grin off his face, ecstatic that his dream of becoming a dragonrider was now fufilled.
They made there way through Weyrlinghood with little incident, J'ran pushing himself hard to make sure he was one of the first to learn the lessons, Minimeth encouraging and doing his own part in ensuring they remained near top of their class.
Minimeth had flown his fair share of flights over the Turns, caring little for the color hide he chased, and while J'ran had enjoyed his own participation in them it was rare for him to continue a relationship with the female's rider. It was three Turns after graduation however that Minimeth decided their was one color dragon he would avoid in future risings. A Magma rose, and despite warnings from other riders and dragons, the bronze pair welcomed the challenge, Minimeth confident that with his larger size he could easily overcome any resitance from the Magma. How foolish the two were. The Magma, at her very worst, decimated the unworthy males who had attemtped to fly after her, gouging Minimeth's head with her sharp claws and tearing at his wingsails. The bronze had dropped from the sky, his left wingsail in tatters, J'ran running over to the fallen bronze beast. It had taken Dragon-Healers a long time to piece together the delicate pieces of memebrane, and even longer before the wing could be used again but eventually it healed, the pair learning a painful lesson.
Shortly after J'ran's father passed away. While the young man was upset at his father's death, he also acknowledged the man had lived a long and fufilling life. His mother was content to remain at the Vitner Hall with her friends, although J'ran visits often.
It was some four Turns ago when J'ran first met Gelian, a bright, spirited Candidate. They became good friends, and J'ran was happy to watch on as the pretty, dark-haired girl Impressed Ruby Lillith. It was not until Lillith rose and Minimeth won the flight, that J'ran realised he felt something more than friendsip for the rider. For one so outgoing he found it difficult to voice this new found emotion to the woman, and when he finally did she laughed, saying she had known for quite sometime.
The pair became weyrmates, and while Minimeth did on occasion fly other dragons, he would always be there when Lillith rose.
A Turn ago Gelian found out she was pregnant. The couple were thorughly excited at the prospect of a son or daughter, even though they knew with the demands of a dragon-rider they would have to foster the child. Everything went smoothly, until a month before the baby was due. Gelian started to bleed and was rushed to the Healers, however they could not identify the haemorrhaging, and realised both mother and child were about to die. Unfortunately Gelian died from hypovolemic shock, and took with her Lillith and their unborn child.
If not for Minimeth's constant reassurance and support J'ran would have surely lost his mind. The grief hit him hard, and he has yet to escape from it some months on, the man a mere shell of what he used to be.
Father:Jabari (Master Vitner-Deceased)
Mother: Sachi (Master Vitner-61)
Siblings: None
Spouse: Gelian of Ruby Lillith (Deceased at age 24)
Pets: None
Dragon Name: Minimeth
Dragon Color:Bronze
Age: 13 Turns
Personality: Minimeth has most of the qualities of a true bronze, however his sense of logic is often a little askew; he is certainly not the most rational of dragons and judgements can be influenced by his current mind-set. Over-confident, he seldom heeds the warnings of others, somewhat like his rider, although he has a litte more sense were danger is concerned, and will talk J'ran out of some of his more outlandish ideas.
He can not stand being idle, and loathes laziness in riders and other dragons, this the one sure thing to ignite his temper, earning a sharp rebuke form the bronze. Despite this he is usually patient with other dragons, and as long as the dragon is making an effort he is willingly to help. Above all he admires those who try to excel, having always pushed himself to the meet the expectations set by himself and J'ran.
Appearence: Minimeth's hide is just the one all over shade of a copper bronze, except for the paler stomach and wings, quiet light when compared to the various shades of bronze that exist. In certain lights it seems to give off a russet sheen and has a beautiful luster to especially after Minimeth has been sun-baking.
As far as his size, Minimeth is one of the larger bronzes, at 37.5m. Built for endurance he is rather stocky, but this is due to the toned muscle of his frame rather than over-indulgence. His wings are in exact proportion to the rest of his body, although there is indication of a previous injury, deep marks on the leathery hide that lines the bones of his left wing.
Minimeth sports other scars and scratches a few a result of Thread though the worse due to his encounter with the proddy Magma. Across his head knob there are deep gouges where the females claws raked him , and they extend to just above the eye. Any further down and Minimeth would most probably have lost an eye.
