It was the death of their Mother that started it all, set their fate in stone and made them the hunters they would be for the rest of their lives.
There was no turning back for Sam and Dean Winchester.
They spent years perfecting their knowledge, their bodies – training to take out the monsters in the darkness, so maybe, maybe they could prevent the same catastrophe for someone else’s family.
John Winchester raised his boys like soldiers, to protect them the only way he knew how and in an effort to do best by them, he sold his soul, made a deal with a demon, so that their path forward could continue.
Yellow Eyes –Azazel— it all seemed so very trivial in contrast with the end of the world, in biblical terms – the apocalypse, complete with Angels (the beings they never imagined could exist), Demons, and the devil himself.
The seals were being broken, one by one, by the same demon that had taken Dean’s life and left him rotting in hell. Lilith would not stop until Lucifer walked among them all, wrecking havoc and death with every step taken.
The world as they knew it was going to change.
Dean was their hero.
Sam was their villain.
And together, together they had to save the world.
They were left in the wake of a battle between Angels and Demons, stunned silent, before the chirp of Dean’s phone rooted them back to reality. It was Bobby Singer (it always was) telling them to get to Lawrence, Kansas because big things were brewing.
There was a phenomenal rise in demonic activity, storms, unexplainable events; he thought it was possible that another seal was going to be broken there.
It was the last place either of them wanted to be, but it was the one place they knew they needed to be.
They just had to be they weren't in it for the long haul alone.
