Gelian's things had remained untouched in J'ran's Weyr since her death, a fine layer of dust on her clothes, hairbush and jewlery. He had no use for them, and looking at them brought back painful memories. As far as he had come lately he doubted whether he would actually be able to physically pick them up and remove them, and even if he did what would he do with all her things? He could not throw them out, that was too ruthless, but he had to remove them and get on with healing.
And then there was the baby clothes and the crib. He sighed massaging his temples at the thought. The crib had been a fine work of art, Gelian having drawn up the design and then got it comissioned with a woodcrafter. The unused clothes were also beautiful, his weyrmate having made most of them herself, and those that were not her own work had been given to her by her best friend Nocia.
It had been quite a while since he had seen the Spring Rider, in fact he could not recall their last meeting, no doubt sometime before Gelian's death. While Nocia and Gelian had been the good friends, J'ran had gotten along well enough with Nocia. And the calm, friendly rider would surely know what to do with all of Gelian's personal items. Perhaps he should invite the Spring rider around?
But then again the other woman's mere presence would only make his own weyrmate's abscence that much more apparent. He now socialised and went out with friends, but he felt more comfortable around those who had known Gelian either not at all or only vaguely.
Ask the Spring rider to come around, she is nice and I am sure she would not mind helping.Minimeth suggested. The bronze dragon had been pleased to see the progress in J'ran since his talk with the other bronze by the river, but there was still along way to go.
J'ran sat down on the edge of his bed, fiddling with the fur neatly folded at the end and then nodded to himself. Alright then please inform her Spring that if she is free and wishes, I would like her to come here. Don't mention Gelian's things though, I'll do that in person when she gets here.
Mosyth, Mine wishes to know if Yours is available and able to come to our weyr. It would please me greatly if you came along with her as well if she could make it. The great bronze bespoke the smaller Spring as he lounged upon his weyr couch.
