"Well matched? That's arguable. And I really can't imagine how you think me lucky. Being singled out by a Cyan is bad enough. Even though a bBlack is the lesser of the two evils, it's not so by much."
"Well, Dharth seems like a very nice dragon. You brought those burns on yourself for teasing him -- though Faranth knows why on Pern would you actually fuel his anger. Especially if you knew he could flame without the aid of firestone."
Well, Ivaris did had a point, It didn't seemed very logical to annoy a dragon -- especially a Black -- if you knew they would dare to hurt you. Even more if you know it spits fire when it wants. Alas, that moment wasn't one Ivaris wanted to remember much, so she quickly attempted to change the topic.
"But, if you are really sure that you are as unlucky as you claim to be, perhaps one day we can test that out... Like in a firelizard hatching. What you get consists purely of chance and luck -- and if you get something terrible then I'll be the first one to admit that you were right."
She couldn't help it, it was an amusing thought. What would K'dran get if he ever went to a fire lizard hatching? Perhaps he'd acquire a good and well mannered flit... Or perhaps something similar to a Cyan. Hopefully it would be anything good.
I am surprised and gratified that you can overlook our many flaws and focus on our sparse virtues, Ivaris. And that is one reason why I am convinced you shall Impress. Who knows, perhaps you shall ride a queen, one day.
Dharth's words had interrupted her thoughts, and the seriousness of his tone only made them more stronger. Her? A Queen? Out of all the possible options, that had to be the most far fetched one by far. The chances of that were slim to none. After all, QUeens weren't exactly common to begin with -- and surely if there was one there would be a handful of older and more experienced Candidates that would be suited for the rank and responsibilities it implied. Dreaming of the impossible was one of the few things Ivaris wasnt so fond of, and the chance of her impressing a Queen sounded pretty impossible to the girl.
"Today seems like my day to be flabbergasted. I should just give up being shocked, I suppose. But since the surprises are all pleasant, I won't look the gift-runner in the mouth."
K'dran's interruption couldn't have been better timed, for it gave the female an excuse to not reply back at Dharth's statement. Though the Black had probably already heard her thoughts either way. "Well, as people say. There's a first time for everything, right?"
