Broke the ring around it, I can’t think about it. I can barely start to even wrap my head around it. Waters rise around us; Sinking ships surround us. I can‘t believe she even found a way inside to drown us. <^Caileah^||^Asoth^> It was bound to happen soon, Caileah half mused to herself as she nibbled lightly at a small bit of bread. Today wasn't unlike any other day, though, and were not the small Jaderider the flitty Jade's bonded, she would not have noticed the signs. Things like being overly obsessed with how clean she was, how shiny her talons and teeth looked, and how her gait had taken a strut to it. Most would overlook it, but not little Caileah. No, for her, this signaled that her lovely little flirt was about to Rise, and she had been that way for the last three days. Today was just the breaking point. Mine, finish your nummies soon so I can go fly! You need to look your bestest cause someone's gotta catch me, and then you get someone too. You don't want to look like you just ate, do you? The Jade was traditionally bouncy and hyper, her tail wagging elatedly and inadvertently knocking little, loose stones from her ledge onto those below. She shifted her weight from forelimb to fore limb, her haunches swaying from side to side as she crouched down, stood up fully, crouched down again, and continued to wag her scrawny tail. Caileah offered a faint, simple smile to Asoth, biting off another piece of the bread tid bit she was enjoying. The stomach of a bird. I don't see how they would mind if I had just eaten, dear one, but you can go ahead and you know that. It'll take some time to find a good male. Don't fret about me on your day, you silly airhead. Under normal circumstances, the Jade would have been mildly offended, but not today. She knew well she was an airhead today, but she didn't care. No, it wont. She stamped her foot decidedly, turning around and walking through the weyr to scoop up her Mine with her tail, placing her to her feet and nudging her toward the door. Weyrbowl, now, missy. I want a quickie, and I wont be long at all. I just want to fly and feel a bigger male clutched close. Go, before I push you through the flap, silly Mine. The Jaderider bit back a soft chuckle as she took one last bite of her mid-day meal before walking through the flap that stood to be a door for privacy. She was down the stairs swiftly enough-her weyr was lower down than most others-and settled against a feeding pen post, waving her Jade down when the pale green female managed to turn herself around inside their sleeping/living chambers. She trilled in delight, propelling herself forward and bugling a playful challenge to all those within hearing distance. She didn't care to blood; she would be out of the air soon enough and wouldn't need it. She also didn't wait for any male to take after her, but merely began climbing and that was all she wrote.

As a strident rallying cry echoed tauntingly across the Weyr, summoning into the sky all those who felt up to the challenge of pursuing a Rising jade, the noise piqued the interest of one male in particular. Dharth was sprawled indolently on his couch with wings outspread to absorb the sunny summer's warmth; Asoth's challenge reached his ears and set the big black's mind to work. His tail twitched contemplatively. Should he give chase? It had been a while since he had bothered to -- mostly he found the females to be chased in Eden rather boring, since he was large and fierce enough to win most Flights without too much fuss. After a moment of thought, the behemoth hauled himself onto all fours and stretched languidly.
K'dran, I advise you to make your way to the Bowl. The blackrider had been taking his lunch with his daughters in the mess, and sighed with mild exasperation at the summons. He curtly asked the black why he should stir himself, then turned back and shrugged at Adria, who had heard the command and shot him a questioning look. Because I think it has been a while since either of us has indulged in a bit of hedonistic pleasure. Now move yourself, K'dran. They all three had heard Asoth's call, so they knew what was coming. K'dran reluctantly stood and made his way out of the hall; he wouldn't be able to avoid the effects of the Flight, as long as Dharth retained his interest in the contest, so there was no point in being perverse.
Dharth took his sweet time stretching; why hurry himself? He was so much larger, faster and stronger than most of the competitors of this Flight that he need not flap himself silly. Once he deemed himself sufficiently loose and warmed up, the black behemoth leaped almost vertically into the air; the jump itself got him clear of the trees, and the initial downsweep of his wings that sent the trees to swaying crazily propelled his dark bulk even higher into the air. He banked on one wingtip -- alarming agile for a dragon his size, but still nowhere near capable of a jade's aerobatics -- and soared on a thermal until he exceeded the jade's altitude.
He dropped out of the updraft and soared; his shadow soon fell over the other chasers, making some of them flit out of his way in alarm, and the big black nonchalantly merged into the pack. He was easily the biggest dragon after Asoth -- granted, he was the biggest dragon in the Weyr -- and Dharth spread his wings to their grandest with a twinge of smug superiority. Even now some of the smaller, but still clever, dragons was coasting on his flank, taking advantage of his slipstream and the easier flying it provided. He rumbled a chuckle at their resourcefulness.
K'dran emerged into the Weyrbowl and easily spotted the congregation of riders, and with reluctance made his way over to them. While most of those riders were blank-faced, already in the grip of their dragons' minds, K'dran was in full possession of his faculties. Right now the Flight wasn't too challenging, so Dharth wasn't very worked up; either way, the big black preferred keeping his mind separated from K'dran's, being of the opinion that he was more than capable of winning any Flight without his rider's help. So K'dran could join the throng of riders under his own power, though in a show of typical defiance he didn't bother craning his head back to watch the ascending dragons.
