An agitated growl, far too soft to be made in anger, vibrated through the chest and throat of the Magma. Her clutch was on the sands hardening, her Weyr was quiet, Dharth was gone, and Xai was now laid up in her weyr recovering from having told Honuth off when the Magma refused to be driven from the Hatching sands. By all rights she should be content and at ease, yet in the early hours of the morning she felt something which filled her with self loathing and turned her crimson eyes skyward. Fear. She was not meant to fear anything, she was a Magma. The world was to fear her, and her name was meant to strike terror into the very core of those who heard it.
This was one of those moments, her heart clutched in an icy chill that made her shudder and her mind trying to rebel against her and throw her into a panic. Her skull lifted from the ground lips lifting over her fangs as she pinned her gaze on the sky above. What was there? She was too young to know what was coming, all alive were in fact. A worried chirp came from above her as Ganzen appeared, perching himself atop one of her spines and clutching to it. She spared him a momentary glance, passing over the flit before looking back skyward. What, little one? Do you not know by now that if you pester me I shall eat you? The little Roan blinked, watching the Magma before scampering down the spine he'd landed on and across her hide, up her neck and placed his paws on her eye ridge, peering down into one of her eyes. He held no real fear of her, oddly enough. Perhaps it was the fact she had been the one to name both him and his Green sister Caile when Xai Impressed them, and since then the Magma had shown no malice to the filt pair. Perhaps it was because he knew she was not herself at the moment. Either way, anyone watching his bold behavior would have been stunned to silence, more so by her reaction to it than anything. A soft exhalation and she closed her eyes, trying once more to banish the worry and fear which tried to swallow her. Do you know what it is, little one? Show me, so I can make it stop. I do not like this feeling.
Ganzen merely crooned, backing up a few steps to curl up around a shorter spine which breeched her skin near the back of her skull.
"Honuth?" The Magma's eyes opened, looking at the entrance of Xai's weyr as the woman appeared, leaning on the dorrframe for support. "What is it?" She'd felt the disturbance of her dragon and come to investigate. She wore little, a pair or leggings cropped at the knee and hanging loosely around her legs was the only form of real clothing she was able to put on. Her torso was wrapped tightly in bandages, stabilizing the ribs Honuth had broken, her arms and legs showing patches of gauze and wrapped bandages as well, from scratches, cuts, and burns the enraged Magma had inflicted on Hers.
Nothing Mine. You should be resting. "You shouldn't rough me up so badly." The woman gingerly took a few steps away from the doorframe, wincing at her ribs but showing no other sign of pain. Honuth knew better, and rose to offer Hers aide. Her muzzle appeared beside the woman, and Xai placed a hand on it for support. One of the rare, treasured moments when Honuth wasn't trying to hurt her or someone else, where Xai could enjoy the bond with her drago that most riders were able to have all the time. Honuth guided Xai to her side, settling down so the rider could lean on her and they could talk. "Now tell me Honuth. What's wrong?"
The Magma didn't answer, instead her gaze remained skyward once more. For a long time there was only silence between them, before the Magma spoke. Mine... I am afraid. There is something coming and I do not understand it, I only know that I fear it. I do not like to be afraid. I have never felt it before and I want it to end now. Xai frowned, trying to understand exactly what the Magma had said, and gave her head a little shake. The only thing she could think of which fit what Honuth said was an impossibility, wasn't it? The very idea that anything dangerous could be approaching from the skies meant that... No. "You must be imagining thi-" No. I am not, and you know it. She had listened to Xai's thoughts, and found truth in them. It was the only logical way to explain it, and if Xai wanted to deny it that was fine and well. Honuth would do no such thing though. Go look. Go look and then you can tell me I am wrong and that all is well. Then you can tell me I'm imagining things. Without waiting for an answer the Magma swung her head around, Ganzen tumbling off with a squeak and flapping out of the way swiftly, as Honuth shoved her nose under Xai and boosted the woman to her back.
Xai growled in protest and pain at thwe gesture, but clung to the Magma's spine and seated herself safely at the shoulder of her bonded, wiping away the tears her ribs had brought when jostled so roughly as the Magma padded away from their weyr, looking for a high point that might serve for what she needed, unsure if this place even had the instrument Xai would need to look through. Frustrated, she hissed and paused. Her gaze moved slowly about, seeking but not finding. Her tail twitched, slapping the ground and sliding over it. She didn't know where it was, if it was even here, but she knew all the same. Deep in her mind and blood, hidden in her very instincts, she knew.
She pivoted and scowled at the Weyr, as if blaming it for not making things obvious to her. You will get off and remain right here. If you've moved even a centimeter when I return, you won't be walking for months. Honuth dropped a shoulder and gave a shake, forcing Xai off and drawing an injured howl from the woman as she was dropped to the ground rudely. Caile appeared overhead, screeching at Honuth and diving at her even as the Magma turned and stalked away to hunt the Weyr and hopefully spy what she wanted before it was too late in the morning and the feeling passed. With Honuth gone and Xai on the ground, the little green flit flutter down to land beside her person, looking at her and nuzzling the woman gently as a continuous chatter of worried trills and chirps emitted form her maw. "I'm fine Caile, now settle down. She was just a bit rougher than need be is all. Nothing new." She eased up into a sitting position and stroked the flit, soothing her and watched Honuth stalk out of sight with a sigh.
