Three continents are now inhabited by the dragonriders and the men and women of Pern. North, South, and East. Forty-five Turns ago a life which was untroubled by Thread, war, or illness was torn asunder. It started as a fever, the symptoms unconcerning until it reached the most dangerous stages. The fever spiked, an intense cough which produced blood after a day, severe vomiting. The fever was unable to be brought down, no food or water could stay in the stomach. Within a week, those who showed these symptoms were dead. The plague wiped across all of Pern, all three continents suffered. Entire Weyrs were devastated, left in shambles. After ten Turns of death and disease, Pern was starting to look bleak.
Many Weyrs had been disbanded, the inhabitants transferring to other, stronger Weyrs. At the very worst when things looked the darkest for Pern, a brilliant Healer found the cure. Rapidly it was passed across Pern, and illness faded from Pern. Twenty Turns have passed since the Plague, and the Weyrs have started to rebuild. Many tried to stand on their own but found their numbers depleted too greatly. Survivors of these Weyrs and their Holds spread out into the Weyrs and Holds which were more stable, leaving behind empty shells of life.
As life starts to settle into a steady rhythm once more for Pern, chaos rears its head. The Red Star is dangerously close, Threadfall seems imminent. Dragons are growing restless and fearful of the danger from above, while on the ground a new threat grows rapidly stronger. One Weyr which walled itself off from the outside world, alone on a little island, stood strong through the plague. The dragons bred within the walls more powerful than anything Pern has seen before. Worse yet, the Turns of isolation from the world created a mindset withing the Weyr of hate. A recent attack was made, bringing to light the name of Black Sands Weyr, as they sterilized Queens from Weyrs across Pern and declared war on Per.
Can the Weyrs, and more importantly Pern, survive war at such a delicate time? The fate of the world could lay in your hands, depending on what side you take.
