Was there something you always felt was missing from the site? Did you come across some interesting concepts or ideas since you were last here? Would you like to have a say in the changes happening?
Post them here. Suggestions can be for anything and everything. All suggestions will be looked at and considered, so don't be shy. Remember, we want to make WoP everything it can be.

I do wish we could have kept the mark system, or something similar to it. It would have been a nice way to regulate character purchasing and such, but then again we never had so many members that that having too many kings was a problem so..>.> Maybe a new regulation system, for when things do get so populated.
I did this for Talune to get just some basic activity going from time to time, as well as for structure purposes, but I would like to see the other Weyrs following along those same lines in regards to posting regular Wing Rider Drills, Watch Post duties (as a writing building exercise purely for this one), and Weyrling lessons.
Also, it would nice to have not just writing challenges, but also graphics challenges for the extra talented artsy folks to compete in. ^^
It would be nice to lure people in with an ad-free site, maybe even go the extra mile to have our own domain name which would require actual money. That would mean setting up a paypal account and whatnot, which might not be too terrible of an idea. I'd be willing to contribute a little extra cash, cause throwing away ads and giving us our own domain name adds clout.
(So apparently I have lots of suggestions...o.o)

I'm going to be looking into going ad-free hopefully within the next month or there abouts. It would make the site look better, and hopefully attract members to us.
Later on when we get a few artistic types in, we may add in an art contest as well. Just because it would promote people to be active and participate in the site, as well as offer more recognition to the people who do so.
I also fully agree with the idea that all the Weyrs should have drills and watch duty activities that are required. It wouldn't be hard to orchestrate it, and it would make sure that people are taking a part in their Weyrs. It'll have to go through a vote from our members, but again, something which is relatively easy to do. ^.^
A last bit, if anyone would like to get in touch with me off-site for just about any reason what-so-ever Skype is the best bet. My phone is eternally logged in, so even when I'm busy I can still be reached, I'll just be a little slow on a response. AIM works too, I'm just not on it as often.

So as I lay sleeping last night I contemplated ways we could bring back the marks system and what everyone could start with/how they would get them/how we could keep track of it all, etc.
Starting marks: 20 just for posting your first character profile and for having them join or startup a thread! ^^ A little, tiny perk but one nonetheless.
Getting them: This is the fun part! I found oodles of ways we could come up with for people to get marks, and some are even through systems we already have in place! 1) Win MoM (10 marks), CotM (5 marks), DotM (5 marks), TotM (5 marks). These are just ways to be recognized on the site, and if your character, dragon, self, thread, etc. has done something worthy of being given such limelight attention, you should be rewarded for it as well.
2) Create a Hall character. Harpers, Watch-Wher Handlers, Dolphineers, etc. can charge for their services & get paid for them (This idea was around earlier before the reset, and I think it'll do fine after it as well). We would need to establish a specific price range and cap for the services of these Hallfolk so things don't way out of hand, but marks could be deducted from one account to go to the other. Maybe, as long as character such as a Watch-Wher handler is in one thread, actively, in a month's time they could earn a "salary" of sorts. 10-20 marks depending on what they do. This would encourage use of Hallfolk characters, something we had an issue with before.
3) Be a professional breeder! Yes, that's right. If you earn enough marks to get a flit or a Wher, you can have them Rise/Run and sell off your young for marks from other members. Again, standardized prices, but something we already had in place that will work out fine. Rises/Runs will also have t be monitored for frequency. Stipulations would have to be made; i.e. you can't buy a flit from a Weyr in which the character you wish it for is not a member of.
4) Win the monthly writing/graphic challenges. ^^ Rewards will vary based on the difficulty of the challenge, but free marks for only a few minutes of your time if you win? Huzzah!
5) I can't take credit for this one, I saw it on Dae's Dinotopia site, but I /love/ the idea of it. Marks for advertising. If you post a certain number of advertisements, you get a set number of marks for all those ads. This will have to be monitored carefully, and we'll have to kick it off only /after/ the reset has happened, but it will be a great way to encourage the advertising of the site and get new members in.
6) Fight to Win: This idea is a little rough, but I figured we could eventually have some system of "war points". If you managed to take down a misery, wildfire, illusion in action, then a system of reward could be set. Mind you, this would be in the far future when war becomes an issue.
7) Adopt an NPC. We have /oodles/ of perfectly crafted, ready to go characters...AND THEY'RE JUST SITTING THERE! Why not give them a chance to shine? If you adopt one of the lovelies, maybe a reward of ten-fifteen marks? This would need to be monitored so that it is not abused and people /must/ use the characters they adopt, not just adopt them and leave them there. This could also be one of the only ways to get some of the retiring colors, so there's extra incentives!
How to Track this System: Well...we already have the exalt/smite system. Maybe we could just use this...? Or the admin could always keep track of who got what and how much they spent with the aid of global moderators and regular mods.
