^ imagine with darker hair and eyes ^
Weyr: Sereg Dagnir...eventual transfer
Name: Celashan
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Likes boys but no s-word for him.
Rank: Apprentice Tanner
Age: 17 Turns
Appearence:
The boy has dark hair and falls beyond his shoulders and stops around the bottom of his shoulder-blades. His face has a delicate build and more often than not he's mistaken for a girl when they first see him, not that he minds it very much. It could be said that he likes it even. His eyes are a dark blue color and are often seen focusing on someone's mouth when they're talking although he has learned ways to make it look as he isn't doing it, they are sharper considering that he has to compensate for the lack of hearing. Above them his eyebrows are constantly pinched together, barely smoothing out. His nose-bridge is thin, but broadens slowly at the nose thrills. The man's lips are colored pink and always pressed into a half-smile when he pays attention to someone.
He has a lanky, slender figure standing at a five foot seven. His shoulders are slightly broader than a female's and his hips narrow. He dresses in clothing that could be considered feminine as well and are a mix of black and an off-white that compliment his figure. A bandana of similar colors keep his hair out of his face, saving him from having to use his hands to brush it away. Those are only for days that he isn't in the Tannery however, simply wearing work clothes then of a rough material. The seam of his shirt is slowly getting loose, because he's constantly playing with the material in a nervous habit. His fingers are extremely agile, having learned to signal for some things to make it somewhat easier to explain what he needs or wants.
Personality:
The young man is possible one of the nicest and sweetest persons one can meet in their entire lives. Celashan is extremely shy however and shies away from meeting new people. He can get angry, but he lives with the belief that one could better spend their time doing something useful than being angry. Sometimes he can get irritated, but then again he just ignores the other person if that happens and tries to distract himself. He's also hyper-aware of everyone around him, turning his head just enough when he feels something so he can view them from the corner of his eyes and reply when they address him. Celashan would never admit that he's deaf, simply for the fact that people would try to give him their unneeded help and that is something he never would appreciate. He's only deaf after all and not handicapped in any other way.
He's deadly afraid of spiders, even the smallest of eight-legged critters can send him screaming and running away. He's on the other hand very fond of felines and canines and never would the chance pass to pat one of them on the head. Celashan has also the habit of pretending to be a mute, simply because then no one expects much out of him. He speaks with those he likes a lot, but even then it is rare. The young man also appreciates a nice, strong body of another's and he has experienced somewhat. But when it threatened to go further than simply kisses in the hallways or wherever, he ran. He's afraid of the concept of getting psychically closer to someone else, there's simply no urge and more often than not he looks either upon disgust or surprise on those who want that closeness.
The youth also finds humor in insulting people with his limited sign-language. He also loves to dress in rather feminine clothes, likes to make anyone else think that he's a girl and sometimes taking it quite far. He never would go far as trying to live as a girl, he likes being a man a bit too much for that. Also he sometimes suffers from motion intolerance and dizziness although those attacks are far and few between, on those moments he can be seen leaning against walls or lying down in his bed.
History:
Celashan was born a p6erfect healthy child. Most of the years went normal and he did everything; learning to speak and walk, making his first friends and first enemies, pulling pranks and everything that another kid did in general. He was happy simply put. The thirteenth turn he lived was where everything seemed to crash around him. His body developed AIED (AutoImmune Ear Disease), first it was seen as just an illness and he was laid to rest in his bed. He couldn't stand anymore, his gait had gotten worse and his balance was off at times, making him stumble and his speech slurred.
Not days after, he lost his hearing, without any medicines to stop it he lost it for good. He now had to learn with his sudden deafness, luckily he still could speak. The following two years after he was more often than not with his parents, trying to learn to read their lips and when he started to understand it, moved to other people. Celashan hated the deafness, but he didn't let it put him down and kept going on like he had done before. It didn't mean that things stayed easy, predicting danger coming his way was more difficult, for example. So the boy made sure to always have someone with him when he had to go out.
The disease did cause him to withdraw himself some, not wanting to meet new people in fear that they would look down at him. The people he knows know that he's deaf and have learned to live with it as he did, strangers don't and he never would be able to predict how they would react to the knowledge.
Another turn passed and he had learned to deal with his sudden deafness and the attacks that slowly lessened. It was around that time that a search party swept out and with a lot of luck he was taken along to the Weyr, after convincing his parents that everything would be okay. The next turn was used to get himself used to the lay-out and the inner-workings of the Weyr.
