Without the need to fight thread, and the lack of firestone with which to produce flame to do so, the Wings of Atlanopolis are focused on entirely different matters from the Weyr on the surface. Rather than focusing on Holds or other Weyr relations, Alanopolis has broken down its dragons to their specific skills and created Wings which equally serve the Weyr with one primary function apiece.
((Duty Wings))
~Hunters~
Dragons which fall under this Wing are exceptionally skilled at outmaneuvering their prey, able to masterfully swim through the vast waters of the oceans to bring back not only food for themselves and clutching Siryns (whom rarely leave the heated pools that incubate their eggs) but also the Weyr itself. They not only bring in fish, but also the occasional sea bird as well as any prey on land which happens to stray too close to the beaches. This wing is favored by Tcathlus dragons, although any dragon who proves their skills as a hunter may be brought into their Wing. Usually led by an older Tcathlus king with a wingsecond of his choosing.
~Patrollers~
This Wing is designed to scour the seas for signs of unrest, changes in fishing supplies, or any otherwise unsavory or favorable acts which could either harm or benefit the Weyr. They bring news from the world above, as well as run relay messages from the Weyr to dragons who may have traveled far away from the Weyr about present changes in hunting or Searching conditions. They are scouts, mostly, but particularly skilled in self-defense as well and this is the primary reason this Wing is dominated by the sleek and poisonous Makois males, although a Tcathlus may slip in from time to time. A Makois will always be the wingleader of this Wing, followed by his choice of a wingsecond.
~Protectors~
By default these dragons are the guards of the Weyr. They focus solely on guiding ships away from the Weyr, looking after the clutching Queens in whatever endeavor they need, serving as watchmen for Siryns who wish to venture out from the safety of the Weyr, and assaulting other threats such as vicious predator fish in the seas or dragons that come too close to the Weyr. This Wing is composed primarily of the largest males, the Megalaodin, but also the Sevrills who are the most well armored of the Weyr's dragons. It will always be led by a Megalaodin wingleader with a dragon of his choosing as his wingsecond.
~Searchers~
This Wing is almost exclusively a Siryn Wing, as it is reserved for the only dragons which are capable of using their lovely voices to lure candidates onto their backs so that they might bring them down into the Weyr via the Spire. The only exception to this is the occasional male dragon which is drafted to protect the females whilst their are on Search. The wingleader is the eldest clutching Siyrn, and two younger clutching Siryns her wingseconds. When she retires from her laying life, she passes on her title to the next oldest and another female from the Weyr rises to fill the available wingsecond slot.
