Weyr:
New Cove.
Name:
Full name; Raillsius. Shortened; R'sius.
Gender:
Male.
Sexuality:
Hetero.
Rank:
Bronzerider; Wingsecond of Mid-Altitude Wing.
Age:
Twenty-eight turns.
Appearence:
(Minus the blue fire, of course. XD)
Details;
Hair, Eyes & Skin - As seen above, R'sius' coloring is both dark and pale.
His hair is long (down to his waist), straight, and black. It's usually allowed to hang freely, unless he's in the air on Murhcyth, then he ties it back into a ponytail. He's always saying it annoys him and he'll get it cut at some point, but he never seems to get around to doing it.
And yes, he has a beard, as seen above.
His eyes are pale, pale gray, and some people have mistaken him for being blind. They're quite off the mark - R'sius has excellent eyesight.
His skin is average in color, but perhaps a bit closer to the lighter side, and various small scars are scattered here and there, but, so far, they're nothing more or less than what any other Rider would aquire.
Body Build, Height & Clothing - R'sius is as strong as any Dragonrider is. None of them are out of shape (seeing as they can't afford to be), and he's no more or less fit than any of them.
He is tall, though, at around six feet, give a few inches. He's lithe and slender, somewhat like his Dragon, and seems to have the same need to eat more than other people would expect him too. You can almost always see him snacking on a meatroll or piece of fruit.
He prefers simple, practical clothing, in simple colors. Grays, browns, and blacks are what he likes best, but occasionally you'll see him with a nice red tunic, or perhaps a gold-colored cloth hair tie or belt buckle.
He tends to like small belt pouches like he's got above. As for the belt wristbands, those were given to him by two of his deceased friends, a set of twins, and he wears them to remember them.
Other - As mentioned before, R'sius has excellent eyesight, and is equally good at aiming and judging distances. One of his favorite pastimes is to throw random knives at a target he's set up on one entire wall of his weyr, and he is a master at it. He rarely, rarely misses anything, and can throw all varieties of small sharp, pointy or otherwise dangerous objects, though he doesn't actually carry any on him. He mostly pilfers random sizes of kitchen knives and practices with them for a night, whenever he feels he needs to, and then cleans and returns them the next day sometime.
Personality:
R'sius, before the plague, was one of the most amusing and irritating guys you'd ever be likely to meet.
He was clever and creative, a fast-talker, fearless and charismatic, and he knew it. He usually kept a cool head under most kinds of pressure, aside from when he was in a serious argument with someone. In those situations he tended to have a slightly more-than-average temper. Boy, when he blew a fuse, he blew it big time!
He was stubborn and proud, and though he was highly loyal and stuck by those he cared about like glue, he had very little patience and only slightly more consideration. He did whatever he pleased, and though he did recognize authority, he only obeyed a few of them (the ones he considered worth respect), willingly or otherwise.
He mellowed just a smidgeon when he Impressed Murhcyth, though not much. The Bronze was a good counterbalance for him in some ways, but they had too many similar traits for the Dragon to do too much. Not that he really tried in the first place; some of R'sius' roughness just smoothed out a bit as he went through Weyrling lessons, but he never lost his wild streak.
And then, his world fell apart, and he had to grow up fast to hold it together.
R'sius really struggled in the first few months of the plague. He had just become a full Rider, just graduated from his Senior Weyrling status, and then all of the sudden people were getting sick and dying left and right.
He managed to hold himself together, but barely. His outgoingness decreased, his temper shortened, and a lot of his jokes died a painful death before they could make it to the forefront of his mind. His pride and self-centeredness took a giant blow as he found himself re-evaluating a lot of things about how he acted, now that so much and so many of his life, his friends, the Weyr - shards! Even so much of Pern was at stake.
There was not much he would be able to do (at least as not as much as he would have liked) in the big picture, seeing as he was barely even a full Rider, but he did whatever it was that was requested of him without complaint, and even did the smaller things he noticed that weren't being done around the Weyr (things that tended to be overlooked in the face of such crisis), that people never even aksed of him.
People noticed the signifigant change in the young man, and most of the guessed what had caused it, and guess correctly. No one approached him about it aside from the remaining friends of his, as well as Murhcyth (he pobably would not have made it and come out anywhere near as sane as he was now if he hadn't had Murhcyth), as most of them were made nervous by his unpleasant demeanour and the intense, determind burning his eyes seemed to possess.
Eventually, life did settle back down, and some of R'sius' mental and emotional wounds healed... But he'll never be the same careless boy he was before.
Now, he still enjoys a good time and cracks a few jokes, but he does so in darker, more dry or cynical humor, most of the time. He's still charismatic and very clever and creative, still has his quick tongue, but they're sharper, and less flamboyantly preformed talents now, and not used nearly so frivolously as before.
His temper is shorter in genral and he's less tolerant of whiners, idiots, and kids as arrogant as he had been, and he's more cautious and less impatient, though he's still not very good with being careful of other people's feelings and opinions and such.
He's still as loyal and stubborn as he ever was, and keeps an almost glacial level headedness in bad situations, and though he has become more careful of rushing into things, he still has a a fearless, daring streak in him that demands to be let out every now and again...
History:
Father - A Brownrider. Name unknown.
Mother - A Greenrider. He doesn't know her name.
Siblings - Probably several, but he doesn't know them.
R'sius is Weyr born and bred, though he hasn't a clue who his parents or possible siblings may be, and doesn't really know if he cares too. He's never been presented with the option. All he ever really knew was that his parents had been a Brownrider and a Greenrider, neither of whom cared enough (or maybe, he once thought, his father might not have known, so maybe he wasn't to blame... maybe) to even tell him who they were.
R'sius lead a normal life. He did well in his lessons, escaped from doing his chores when he could, made friends, played more than a few pranks, explored the Weyr and got into places he probably shouldn't have...
Okay, maybe he was a bit more of a handful than the others. He was generally the ringleader whenever a few of the Weyrbrats decided to make mischief, and whenever he was picked to lead their 'missions,' they were very rarely caught. After a few times of switching leaders, the other kids made note of this, and made him their unofficial leader and/or advisor whenever they wanted to do something that they most likely weren't supposed to.
Their fun was never really meant mean-spiritedly (except maybe when they went after someone who had annoyed them, but they were smart enough to keep that to themselves), though, and everyone knew it. The adults looked on them with the exasperated fondness that some pranksters tend to generate, though that didn't stop them from being duly punished whenever they did manage to get caught.
At some point before he started appearing for Hatchings, R'sius managed to procure one Fire-Lizard egg for himself, and to his shock and pleasure, two Browns came from it.
Of course, R'sius stood at Hatchings as soon as he was old enough, and on his fifteenth turnday he finally Impressed Bronze Murhcyth.
And then, nearly everyone was killed when the plague swept Pern. R'sius managed to survive, though the majority of his friends didn't...
One girl, who had Impressed a Green two Hatchings after him also survived, but that was all, of the people who he cherished.
He's determind to make it, though. He never was one to just roll over and die, afterall...
Pets:
Two Brown Fire-Lizards. Oddly enough, they actually came from the same egg.
Twin Browns Otten & Otias[/u]
Otten is a permanently cheerful, semi-hyper creature, quite unusual for a Brown. He's not jittery or nervous, just energetic, very friendly and loyal to his friends, and willng to forgive mistakes. To those he considers rivals, he's fiercely competitive, but not closed to becoming friends instead. To those he actually dislikes, he will give no mercy.
Otias is quieter and more thoughtful than his brother. He's just a little shy, and very kind and soft-hearted, and though he does like the occasional friendly squabble, he does not like real fighting of any kind at all. He rarely makes enemies or rivals with anyone, befriending others easily. He does not take well to being betrayed, having the same fierce views of loyalty as his twin.
They are both a warm chocolate-brown color all over, not one variation anywhere. They're very small for Browns (probably because they came from the same egg), not a whole lot bigger than Blues, and are lithe and slender, very swift and agile for their color/rank. They're identical in appearance to the very last scrap of hide. Otias is considered the 'older' one, but Otten is more dominant.
------ ------ ------ ------ ------ ------
Dragon Name:
Murhcyth.
Dragon Color:
Bronze.
Age:
Thirteen turns.
Personality:
Murhcyth is a more silent, thoughtful Bronze, though he does still have a commanding air and authority about him, and he is not exempt from the pride rule either. He does not let his pride rule him, however... but, of course, if it's attacked enough he will fight back.
Murhcyth is a master of sarcasm, and makes good use of this skill. He can be cutting or amusing with it as he pleases, and very rarely does a day go by that he does not comment on some thing or the other. It's just in his nature to be a smart-aleck.
He's actually fairly calm though, and considers everyone's opinion before making one of his own, or, if he already has an opinion, if he thinks someone else has a good point he'll modify his own views.
Unlike his Bonded, he can comform to being a leader or a follower quite easily, as long as the person/Dragon to be leader is actually good at their job. Thankfully, he has a clearer head for analyzing people and Dragons than R'sius, though, and does tend to sooth his Rider's irritations if he sees that the one over them is good for the job. Otherwise, he'll help R'sius in whatever he has to say... or do.
Appearence:
Murhcyth is a good size for a (Syamynth lineage) Bronze, at forty-five meters exactly. He's not quite as bulkily built as some others are, however - he's rather thinner and more slenderly made than a Dragon of his size should be. He's been checked over multiple times by a couple of different Healers, both of whom said he was very healthy; he just has a higher metabolism (or whatever it is they call it on Pern) and needs to eat more often than other Dragons do to keep from getting too thin. Other than that, he's fairly normally proportioned.
Murhcyth's coloring is beautiful, ranging in several different shades and tints of bronze. His wing membranes are a light, almost translucent, pale gold-bronze, and his underbelly, neck, throat and underside of his tail are a darker orangey-red-bronze. A long, thick stripe that runs from the tip of his nose, down his neck and back, colors his spines and finishes at the very tip of his tail is greenish colored bronze, and the rest of him is patchy shades of brown-looking bronze.
He has some scars, but only what's to be expected. No one can always come away from battling Threadfall without even a tiny score.
