Weyr: Atlanopolis (Once Searched)
Name: Cerina (Ceri)
Gender:Female
Sexuality: Has not really explored this aspect...possibly bisexual?
Rank:Candidate
Age: 18
Appearence:Ceri is the type of girl who enjoys a good meal, however her body pays testament to this. Far be her from being obese, she definitely sports a more curvaceous figure with extra weight on chest, hips, buttocks, thighs and stomach. She feels this is further emphasised by her rather average height. However she does herself little favours as her posture is less than desirable and she curls up on herself as if by doing so she can obscure certain undesirable physical attributes. For this reason she absoultely dislikes revealing clothing, or anything that makes her stand out, so she tends to neutral and dark colors, mainly in long flowing skirts that skim her ankles, or dresses that conceal her more unflattering features.
Ceri has a rather plain, round face, with intensely dark sapphire eyes, and in anger they can be so dark that they may almost be mistaken for black, with speckles of a steel grey within the inky depths. As with most of her figure, she has full, luscious lips that are a natural dark red, and when pulled in a smile can positively change her appearance, transforming her from nothing special to almost pretty.
Her skin is almost white, with pinkish undertones, well suited to a Northern climate and she has straight inky dark hair she wears cropped at chin length and flicks in towards her face with a parting towards the right side of a face, and a fringe that falls angular to the left, just skimming around her eye.
Personality: Ceri is certainly not one to agonise over a decision, however neither does she plow ahead blindly without delving into the possible repurcussions. Mature beyond her Turns, from a young age she took on an almost protective role over her rather eccentric father, as if she in fact was the parent and he the child. Despite this there is a deep and abiding love between the two and for all Arven's insanity Ceri counts him as her only true friend.
Ceri is the type of girl that would have made a good wife had she lived in Terran during the early 1900's. She can cook, sew (whether it be material or the stitching of broken skin) and is rather biddable, perhaps too much so. Cerina is overly accomodating of others needs, relegating her own far down the list of things that concern her.
This is compounded by a distinct lack of confidence. Cerina greatly dislikes her appearance, knows she will never be one of the great intellects and has trouble initatiating conversation with new people as a result of her rather sheltered lifestyle. In her eyes she believes she has little to offer potential friends, and this is perhaps where her desire to constantly help other stems from; at least in this way she has something to give.
History:The story of Ilia and Arven could quite easily be something from a fairytale; their first encounter giving credence to the old adage 'love at first sight.' Ilia was the youngest daughter of the Sea Hold Arven was posted to on his first assignment as a Journeyman Harper.
As a gift on their wedding day Ilia's father, Lord Holder Ilav, bequeathed the young couple with a cothold by the edge of the ocean, to allow the newly married pair a measure of privacy during their first days of marriage, but close enough so that Arven could maintain his duties as a Harper at the Hold.
The weeks went by quickly and Ilia fell pregnant rather promptly. Within the year she had delivered the couple's first child, Cerina. As she recovered from the pregnancy Ilia spent a lot of time outdoors taking walks along the beach, trying to regain her strength. It was on one such trip when Cerina was only a few weeks old, that one of the fabled water-dragons emerged, her beautiful voice compelling Ilia to approach the creature despite the water lapping at her skirt. Ilia had no thought in her head but the stunning creature who called to her, all thoughts of Arven and Cerina waiting patiently at home for her having fled.
Hours passed, and Arven's anxiety increased. Taking Cerina with him he scoured the beach but the only sign of Ilia was her footprints, which ended halfway between their cothold and the promontory, almost as if she had disappeared beneath a wave. When he informed Ilav, the Lord Holder assumed his daughter must have drowned and that was the story conveyed. However Arven was of a different mind.
The grief over his loss and Arven's constant suspicions sent the man crazy, his only tenous link to reality was his daughter. However Ilav did not trust the man to properly raise a child, especially in the state he was in, and requested Arven to send Cerina back to the Hold where she may grow up amongst her family. Arven vehemantly refused, however he came to a compromise of sorts. Not wanting to leave the cothold himself, in case Ilia one day reappeared, he allowed Ilav to send a number of drudges and a nursemaid/foster-mother to look after Cerina.
When Cerina reached an age where most children of the Sea Hold were learning to swim, Ceri asked her father when she too could join them. Arven forbade her to ever enter the water, scared that he would lose his daughter as he had lost his wife. Cerina bit back her disappointment, not wanting to upset her father, unable to explain to Arven the pull the ocean had upon her, the voices she was sure she heard coming from the direction of the sea.
Although Cerina grew up close to the Hold she had little communication with the children, her father would become overly anxious anytime she got too close to the ocean, and she was not the most forthcoming child. Instead she spent her time in solitary tasks and learning from the adults around her, picking up on some rather useful skills. And while Cerina did not believe this was unsual as a child, as she aged she began to realise that perhaps her upbringing was not quite the same as her comtemparies.
On the verge of adulthood Cerina can not deny the way she longs for the ocean's embrace, desires to feel her skin caressed by the waves she watches crash along the beach with an intense longing.
