Please read all the rules. [/u]
If you have any questions or comments, PM me or one of the other admin. Also, if you have not read at least one of Anne McCaffrey's Dragon riders of Pern books, it is best that you do so before joining the role play. It can be easy to get lost otherwise.
IC and OOC
-RP = Role Play
-IC = In Character
-OOC = Out Of Character
-NPC = Non Player Character (a character who isn't owned by one person)
-Always RP in third person.
-If you wish to post something in OOC, place it in these: ((Your OOC text goes here)).
-OOC must be a part of an IC post, unless in an OOC thread/ board.
-For longer posts it is advisable to use size one font. To do thise use the following code.
1. Please have respect for all members, including staff. We know sometimes people do not get along but if you and another member have a problem then please, just ignore each other or take it up with staff if things get serious.
2. Try to use decent grammar, spelling, and punctuation. No one is perfect, and we don't expect anyone to be a professional, but don't use chat speak in the middle of IC. She went 2 b bi him is not okay.
3. No godmoding. You cannot control another person's character without their permission first and you NEED to ask to kill off someone else's character. You can kill any of yours at any time but be sure to talk with an admin/mod/the Weyr creator of the rider's Weyr before doing so. Especially if your character is of higher rank like the Weyrling Master.
4. No perfect people. Please give your characters some flaws. It is no fun RPing with a 'perfect' character! Give them a short temper or a serious fear of something.
5. Make an original name. No names from the books may be used and please try not to use common earth names either.
6. 'Hear All Dragons', and 'Hear All Flits' are extremely rare. Please don't make one and expect for it to be accepted without question. These characters, however, will be available to buy with Marks.
7. Some of our Weyrs may be fairly new. Be sure the age of your characters suit the Weyr, Hold, or Hall they are a part of, which means reading the individual rules of the Weyr you plan to be apart of.
8. High ranking colors, queens of any color, and mutation or canon kings, must be bought, and cannot simply be made unless there is an explicit lack of them within one Weyr. The same applies to flit colors. The exception to this rule is the creator of a Weyr. Said member may have either a king or queen of their choice, native to the Weyr they have made, for free.
9. If there are thirty flits present on the site, no more may be made. They must be bought from a clutch at the price set by the owner of the clutchmother. General pricing is .5 marks for low ranks, 2 for kings, and 5 for queens.
10. If there are twenty whers at any given time, all future whers must be bought from a clutch, at the price set by the clutchmother's owner. This is to help the site be more interactive, and to encourage RP as well as make it more realistic.
Characters Rules[/u]
There are several things that have become common in characters.
So there are a few things we will not accept when a character is sent in.
Characters with extremely red hair. (Limited gene pool, and to have a very vibrant red would be uncommon.)
A mass amount of blonde characters. (Blonde is the rarest hair-color on Pern, so only a few will be accepted. This may be loosened up in time, depending on how the site goes, and the rest of the admin.)
Riders who are very mentally unstable as a daily thing. (We all have our issues, so now and again some instability is fine. This is more to those who try to have riders that are never stable, no matter what.)
If a submitted character falls under one of these items, they will not be approved and you will be asked to change the character to follow the rules before they are approved. The exception to this rule is if you have a majority approval by the admin, meaning if the profile is done well enough for us to overlook hair color or something else.
Weyrlings
The young dragonets are not allowed to fly until they and their riders have passed the Lesson on flying.
Weyrlings cannot be in a physical relationship with someone at this point. It would cause problems with a young dragonet and could result in a premature flight. If a character is in a relationship before Impression, they need to be careful until their dragonet is fully matured.
Weyrlings are not allowed to carry weapons other than the usual belt knife used for eating. Any weapons must be turned into the Weyrling Master. They will be returned upon completion of Weyrling Training.
Holdfolk and Hallfolk[/u]
Use sense while creating these characters and try to be realistic. They may not play as large a part in many RPs as Riders do, but keep in mind the size of our site and the importance of every character here.
Not everyone can have a Master in a craft. We would prefer you create your characters at Journeymen and below, and work to earn higher.
Candidates
Candidates can be as young as 12 or as old as 22 to stand during a Hatching.
You cannot have more than 2 Candidates standing on the same sands at any one time. You may have more than 2 Candidates but no more than 2 can participate in the same Hatching.
Candidates cannot carry weapons other than the usual belt knife used for eating. Any weapons must be turned into the Candidate Master upon arrival to the Weyr. Only once a Candidate has become a full Rider or is too old to stand will they get the weapons back.
If your character is a male, you must be able to shorten his name for if/when he Impresses. Some exceptions will be made, but don't make a habit of it.
If you have a female candidate who Impresses a male dragon, you will be given the option of a honorific for her.
Candidates are discouraged from havings pets, as once they Impress their young dragon will need a lot of attention and pets would distract from their duties.
Dragon riders
Dragon riders can now have relationships since their dragons are fully matured. Keep the role play between riders PG-13 unless otherwise indicated!
All Dragon riders must fly during Threadfall unless they have been grounded for some reason or another.---Don’t worry if you can't get on the day of the Fall. The next time you can RP, have your character act as if he or she has taken part in the flight.
Dragon riders are allowed to carry weapons other than belt knives but it is strongly discouraged. There is no need for them in the Weyr and fighting between riders is prohibited.
But IF a fight does break out it can be ether unarmed or if you do have to have an knife fight, it ends in first blood. DEATH OF A RIDER MEANS DEATH OF A DRAGON.
If you wish to transfer a mutation from one Weyr to another (ie: Taking an Emerald from Crystal Cavern Weyr and having it as a Talune Weyr dragon) ask the creator of the color, or the owner of the Weyr. For the most part people are willing to allow this, but please make sure to ask.
Flights[/u]
You must ask an admin if you would like your queen dragon to rise. A date will be set for when it is most convenient for you and for the other members who will participate in the flight.
The stuff that happens with the riders during and after the flight must be kept PG-13 unless expressly indicated in the title with '[M]' label.
The person RPing the rising female has all the power during the flight; they say who catches her. If you are RPing a male dragon, you cannot say that your dragon caught her unless the person RPing her contacts you, telling you that your dragon can catch her.
Flights are to take place in the board each Weyr has for them.
Hatchings[/u]
Only the person RPing the mother dragon can RP the eggs Hatching. Only once a dragonet has picked a Candidate may that person RP the dragonet.
If you are RPing the clutching female, you will receive a PM from an admin with a list of all the colors that will be in that clutch, which will have been discussed with you after the Flight. Please do not change the list, unless of course you discover an obvious error (like 3 queens) and then PM an admin for clarification. If there is a Gold/Queen in the clutch you will also be sent the name of the Candidate who should Impress that egg, also something you will have had input on. If you have any Candidates, the council will decide what they Impress. All other eggs can go to the Candidates of your choosing.
Pets
Flits can send feelings and images to those they are bonded to buts that’s all.
We may be open to more pets than normal (flits, felines, canines, and runners) if your Weyr has some. Do not automatically add them into your Weyr, PM an admin and we will let you know if they are going to be permitted.
Plots
You don't have to have permission to start a plot of your own, just be sure to try and keep to the ones we already having going.
If you have any questions or comments, PM me or one of the other admin. Also, if you have not read at least one of Anne McCaffrey's Dragon riders of Pern books, it is best that you do so before joining the role play. It can be easy to get lost otherwise.
