Hops on Pern resemble the Terran form, and it is a medicinal herb and anodyne. They are one of the primary ingredients of beer. The young shoots are eaten as a vegetable, and leaves are blanched for soups. Hop tea is a nerve tonic, mild sedative, and muscle relaxant. The essential oil is used in perfumes and lotions. Dried flower bracts can be used in herbal 'pillows' to aid/help induce sleep.
