You may be wondering, why should I make a character for a Hall? Well here's your answer. You can earn marks!
Yes, now you can be paid for your services. The way this will work is that the person you are doing something for will make an offer, and once a price is settled, and the job done, one of you will send me a PM. The marks will be subtracted from the employer, and added to the profile of the employee.
Amounts will vary, and it is entirely up to the person playing the employer and the employee, but be sure to be fair about it.
Harpers, you can earn marks by commissioning ballads for others, though I advise you only do this if you can do it well.
Healers, if you manage to become a Dragonhealer, you can earn marks for something as simply as tending to a beast injured during a Fall (ie, playing your character doing such) from either the Weyrleader, Weyrwoman, or the player of the injured dragon.
Wher-handlers, Holds need you around to keep your wher in line, so ask for some sort of payment.
Miners, Smiths, etc. you can commission items for people, though we ask you RP out the effort put into your job.
Weavers, everyone needs cloths.
Dolphineers, you can get the captains of fishing boats to pay you for the services your dolphin renders -- leading to shoals, warning of weather, etc.
The rest of you, if you haven't gotten the idea yet, then you probably need to stop and think. Like the real world we live in, people of Pern need to get paid, and need to have some items for their life. While yes, most of your belongings you have by nature, it's always fun to buy stuff. Also, those of you who specialize in a craft might look into trading with other Halls for things, a Vinter might be able to pay a Harper with a skin of wine for a jaunty tune.
If a craftsman has not preformed their duty to satisfaction, the commissioner has the right to lower the marks offered, though if anyone does this repeatedly, staff will look into it, and see if a member isn't just being cheap.
Have fun, and get making some new chars that can earn you marks!
