All throughout Mistith's confinement to the Infirmary, Sable had been restlessly shifting about, squirming in place on the Green's couch. The grass green flit had been trying to stay by her companions side and, at the same time, wishing dearly she could move away and out into the skies. It was that time again, but loyalty was holding her back. It was only when Tain had woken from that cat nap with Mistith that she ordered the flit off, telling her it was foolish to sit there and suffer when she could easily come right back once the urge had died off. With slight hesitation still, Sable heaved herself off of Mistith's temporary bed, shuffling her feet to move along the Infirmary floor, too hesitant still to flutter off, but ever heedful of the passing healers as she wandered out of the healing rooms further into the lower caverns. Her tiny head curving to catch all angles of the kitchens, she hopped up on the counter when the coast was clear, scrambling across the freshly cleaned surface and slipping, sliding into a sack of flour. Chirping indignantly, Sable sneezed, shaking off as much of the powdery white off as possible before crawling stealthily across the counter top, soon wedging her head into a bowl of meat chunks meant for someone's dinner.
As soon as she had gorged enough to fully sat herself, she wobbled alongside the counter, his pinions flaring out as she prepared to jump. With a quick, unrestrained action, she lept, wings catching her newly burdened body as she dashed past and oncoming drudge, swerving to the right to avoid colliding with her and the mountain of clean dishes she was carrying. Breaking out of the lower caverns, the light momentarily blinded her, the first two facets of her eyes closing as she pulled up higher into the air, her lungs screaming a sharp, defiant bugle. They would come, yes, and they would chase. She was sure of it as she pulled up higher, her bugling continuing as she ascended into the sky.
Notes: -Heads desk- That post sucked terribly, but I needed to post it and my muse was distracted by some issues going on at the moment. Sorry guys. =/

The little brown who made to chase the rising green was a wild one. As such upon his Hatching he had been given no name, however his hide was such a beautiful, rich chocolatey color that it seemed appropriate had he been named, that it would have been something along the lines of Cacao, after the Teraan bean that provided the sweet treat.
Cacao often graced the shores of Talune, and enjoyed playing with the flits of the Weyr. His bigger cousins, the dragons themselves provided hours of amusement, and unlike some of his more timid brothers and sisters, Cacao would happily perch on top of the bathing dragons chattering happily, and somewhat senselessly, away. As such he was darting around the shores zooming in and out of nooks and crannys when he was alerted to the sharp cry of the rising fire lizard.
He cocked his head to one side, as he listened. Yes, the cry had come from somewhere closer to the Weyr. As adventrous as the young brown was he did not often venture close to the Weyr, dragons and other fire lizards he could handle but those strange things with two legs frightened him. However this was different, no consideration was paid to the two leggeds as he decided that he would join in the chase of the tamed green. With a flick of the wings, he banked around the promontory, and sped off to the Weyr where he spotted the little green and a number of other fire lizards starting to group around her in the sky just outside the Weyrbowl. He gave a happy trumpeting, signalling his desire and excitement in this chase, as he soared up into the sky at the tail of the group, his tail flicking to and fro behind him in anticipation.
Cacoa much preferred to chase after greens then golds. The greens were much more fun and took themselves less seriously than the golds who flew to breed more fire lizards. The greens flew for their own enjoyment, and hence proved the better sport for the brown flit. Diving beneath a pack of males his wings beat against his brown hide, before he put on a burst of speed to ascend again, coming up now somewhere towards the front. He gave another happy chirrup as he spotted the green, her lovely form sparkling against the back drop of blue sky in quite a tantalising manner.

Sable warbled in delightful ecstasy as she darted playfully around a larger blue flit, spinning teasingly around his body before using his shoulders to push off from, darting away as quickly as she had dropped back to grace the pack of males. Oh, how fun it was to fly! Yes, her Mine had been right: she could not have sat through that, even when her dear friend was slumbering peacefully from her medications. The torture was too intense, the promised release too pleasurable of an experience to deny herself any longer, because she was meant to fly. Yes, unlike those uptight golds, she only wanted to fly and be held by those dear males who chased after her like she was the greatest beauty on Pern. With a rolling, flirtatious croon, she began to sway back and forth in lazy swoops, dropping slowly in altitude like a falling leaf in autumn. Only when she was close to the ground and one dashing, hot headed Bronze thought her finished and dove to catch her did she swerve, catching his back and, once more, using her chaser as a spring board. She did this thrice more, growing more daring as the males, too low to easily turn back up from their dive, could do nothing but watch as she hopped from one back to the next, pushing off from the previous and swiftly stroking her wings to meet the next body. She continued her climbing ascent, crooning her challenges sweetly to those close behind her. Oh, they would come: they always did.
As she climbed up to the topper reaches of the Weyr's mountains, she took the swift chance to look back at the lovely males who still chased after her. Ah, such a lovely group they were! She was so very lucky. A bronze and several healthy browns had even decided to join her flight. Hers! Of all the flits, they wanted her. It made the green flit squirm in delight, and she couldn't resist turning on a wingtip and circling her body around the nearest flit-Cacao. Her body barely brushed against his as, with unimaginable grace, she teased him with the chance of finding his heaven, her leaf green tail tickling his sides before she darted away, crooning her sweet nothings to him as she dared him to win this flight. He was a fine mate, better than that scatter brained bronze who had tried to catch her early. At least this wild flit knew how to act.

The brown gave a deep throated trill as he continued to follow the green, delighted by her antics, particularly the usage of his fellow competitors as launching pads. This was what he enjoyed about flights, the silly flirtations, the twists and turns and dives, it gave him such an adrenaline rush and he loved the feel of the air whooshing around him, like a lovers caress, spurring him on to greater speeds. The green still held herself aloof, her pace preventing even those silly enough to exert themselves so soon from catching up to her, only approaching the males on her terms. Cacao was content to bide his time, he enjoyed flights, why would he be so eager to end it so shortly if he felt no pressure from his opponents? He ruled these skies, spending so much time flying about, no other male even came close to his assumed magnificent, especially those males who had human partners and spent the majority of the time perched on shoulders or wrapped around necks. He dipped down into a shallow dive as the female began her lazy descent, and felt, rather than saw the bronze shoot past him and attempt to catch the green.
Silly thing, size and rank meant nothing if one was as impetus as the bronze. It was obvious to Cacao the green was not ready to end the flight just yet, and surely enough he saw the bronze shown up as the green nimbly leapt off his back. He dipped a bit lower before spinning head over tail in the air, determined not to lose the ground he had made upon the green. Other flits had started to drop out, and the intensity of the flight increased as the serious contenders attempted to out do one another. He chirruped again, goading the green on in an attempt to woo her. It seemed his antics had caught her attention when she turned back towards him, lavishing the brown with attention. His wing half unfurled he made to snag the greens wing as she brushed oh so gently against his own body, however it caught only her tail as she shot forward again. However it motivated him on further, the dazzling green having clearly favored him from all the other males. Oh he would prove worthy of her and responded with his own deeper croon the cadence blending with that of the females, his wings now fully extended as the air caused the sails to billow and his velocity to increase.

Sable dared to snap, her neck curling around as she tilted her wings to send her into a circling arch. Her dainty green maw was parted in a flustered hiss, ruby hued orbs skimming over the brown flit who had tried to interrupt her soarings, the tame her wings. Bah! Silly dolt: he could no more hold her back than he could catch the sun's light with his paws! With that stubborn frame of mind, the green began to flicker her attention to her other chasers, watching as each followed in pursuit, circling lazily around her in various maneuvers, watching her warily as though they half expected her to dart out and knock one of them from their pedestals that they so sat themselves highly upon. Oh, but no, she was behaving relatively well...For once. Merely swerving around in the air while maintaining her distance, but staying close enough to watch each and every male as he moved forward, darted around the others, and tried to win her favor in the only way they knew how. No detail escaped her keen eyes as her wing beats increased, trying to catch the strain she might have seen with her eyes whirled back to view them as they pushed onward: dedicated to the cause. As she observed them, she came to realize she did not need to decide for herself: she would let them save her the great trouble, and instead would push them to the boundaries of their sanity as she taunted, teased, and stroked them mercilessly with her wingtips, tail, forked tongue...Anything she rightly could. Because this was her flight, her moment to shine, and she needed to find a mate she knew was worthy. What better way was there then to let them senselessly duke it out between themselves?
Bugling her intentions, she angled her body upward, the highest reaches of the Weyr even across her line of vision as she stilled in the air, gentle wings flapping to keep her aloft. Daringly, she crooned to them, coaxing one near, gently-and how she stressed the word to her males-to come near her. She didn't wait as the lot looked on at her in confusion, several having to swerve off course to keep from colliding into the other flits. One of those, a young blue, caught her eye and, as he moved, so did she, shooting forward to catch him with her wings, the tips brushing against his sides just as he made his turn. Without so much as a pause, she bolted away from him as though burned, her tail stroking sweetly against a bronze hide before she dropped her altitude, swerving around Cacao to lightly run her forked tongue across his shoulder blades. Let the hornets nest buzz about with that! she mused devilishly.

Cacao was unperturbed by Sable's display of anger. It was all part of the flight ritual, and the little brown quite enjoyed working the ire up of those he chased, especially those who at any other time would only be sweet and obedient. After all it was not as if he chased a magma who would tear into him when she becmae irate. No, she was a green, and a splendid one at that. He gave a soothing chirrup, to reassure he had meant no harm, and then continued on with the chase, his lust-filled eyes locked upon the shape of the green that darted this was and that way before him.
Up until now he had followed her effortlessly, but he could feel the first signs of exhaustion roll over him in a wave. Shaking his litte brown head as if he could push away the feeling by such an action he noticed a bronze come up along side him. Did that lumbering thing really think he had a chance with such a beautiful creature as Sable? With his closest imitation of a grin spreading across his muzzle, he turned to the right swerving sharply in front of the bronze, cutting him off, and sending the bulkier creature off course.
Content that it would take sometime for the bronze to correct his course and regain his speed, Cacao sped up on those fire lizards in front, climbing higher into the sky as Sable reached what would have been dizzying heights for most other creatures. He had marked two real competitors out of the remaining fire lizards vying for the green. One was the blue who even now Sable brushed herself against, the other a bronze closer to his own size, who had done quite a spectacularl job of a particularly steep dive earlier, and at any other time Cacao may have admired.
Not now though, no now they competed for the same prize and he had to be better and faster. The green had to want him over any of the other flits that gathered around her. Cacao had dipped down below the main competitors, willing to let them think he had given up the flight. It would be when they were caught unawares that he could press the advantage and ensnare the green as his own. As if to confirm this in his mind, the green had dropped down to join him momentarily, her tounge leaving a firey trail between his shoulders, and causing his body to shudder at the wonderful feeling. He had hardly needed anything else to spur him on, but that provided the catalyst. With a flick of the wings he soared along, until he judged he was further enough along.
Barreling to the left he climbed steeply upwards, emerging between the pack of fore-flying fire lizards, his own form rudely jostling the others, and spraying them around him like a heavy pressure hose. He gave little heed of the trills of protest and anger. What was a few males' displeasure in contrast to the twining of his body with that of the greens, should the conclusion be as he wished this flight. No, instead he continued to climb upwards until he flew directly above the green. His form casting a shadow upon her own.

Below the wild brown, Sable chirruped, her neck curving around to catch sight of the familiar, pushy bronze and the patient blue who had followed her from the beginning, but there was no sight of the brown. A flustered and indignant chirp fled her tiny green maw as she realized he had vanished, most likely dropped out form the strain in his wings that she was only now beginning to feel. With restrained fury, Sable thrust her body forward, arrowing straight ahead toward the impending cliff faces as she allowed her mind to ponder of the last two suitors. The blue. She'd choose the blue. That bronze had been too pushy and impatient anyway, but that brown had been perfect. If only he hadn't-Wait, what was above her? With curiosity touching her optics, Sable's head inclined faintly to view the reason for the shadow coating her smaller frame, and an excited trill fled past her. He was still there! Ah, she'd make her choice now! The dear brown who had no master, who did not dear to rush her aside from encouraging her onward during her flight the entire time. He was perfect, she had decided, and now she just had to prove that to the other two flits flying faithfully behind her.
Aimlessly, she began drifting in lazy circles, wings extended to give her enough surface area for relaxed gliding as she crooned up to Cacao, snapping at the bronze as he came too close once more. The blue had realized his rejection, dropping from the flight and heading back to His, but not the bronze. No, he just had to prove he was what she needed. Was what her little clutch that she would probably forget to look after needed. Idiot.

Cacao had to hold back a chirp of pleasure, not wanting to make his presence known so early, as the green looked behind her and then around trying to find him, making sure his own speed matched hers as he continued to shadow her. He saw as she seemed to size up the remaining two fire lizards, wondering if perhaps he should make his own intentions clear before it was too late. A good ploy it may have been but if the green decided upon another because she could not find him it would be worhtless. Luckily for him it was then the green seemed to realise that he remained, and he gave a trill of triumph in response to her own cry.
He watched as the blue glanced up at him and then cut back, dropping lower and lower, gracefully pulling out of the chase. That left only the pushy bronze who had not noticed he still remained as a contender. The bronze might try to get close to her, but Sable was his prize. And he would have to prove it to both the green and the bronze.
Cacao dropped back slightly, still remaining above the other two fire lizards, but so he hovered over the form of the bronze now as opposed to the green. The silly thing had still not noticed him but that was to his advantage. Cacao dropped suddenly onto the bronze, in a good imitation of the trick Sable had performed before, but rather than bounce off and then leave, he caught his wing under the bronzes own, and flicked upwards, causing the bronze to wobble and lose speed. The bronze snapped at him, but Cacao gave a chirrup of delight and ducked under the bronze as he made for him, beating his wings quickly as he tried to catch up to the green again. Her tail snaked towards him invitingly, not so far from his grasp now.

Sable watched in shameless delight as Cacao darted behind her, his eyes locked fearlessly on the overbearing bronze who had yet to give her her peace and accepted his defeat. Proudly, she gaze on at her chosen mate, observing how he roughly knocked the bronze brute away and off course so that he could make his point known: she had chosen him and the wherry needed to leave it be and find another flit to fly after. With her triumphant brown returning to her, Sable trilled a lovely chorus of chirps, he wing beats slowing to all him the effort needed to catch up. Her wings were tired of carrying her weight anyway or, at least that was her excuse for having began to ease up on her pace. As soon as Cacao was close enough for her to stretch out a wing to grace his hide with the contact, Sable angled her body to the earth, wings tucked against her sides as she began an ancient free fall. Certain, was she, that he would catch her, join her in this dizzying descent before they were to meet the ground head on and have to depart from the warm, embracing comfort the two had managed to gain from one another. With a final sound, she crooned to her mate, coaxing him to her as she rushed toward the unholy soil to end the lust that had seized her body since earlier today.

Cacao knew, with beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he deserved the green. There had been other, perhaps somewhat worthy contenders amongst the other fire lizards, but it was he who had outwitted and outflown them all, and with a deep throated warble of ectsasy he claimed his prize as he followed her downwards, wings locking around the green fire lizard as the final distance between the pair was covered. He gave another trumpet of delight as the green succumbed to him, shooting a quick glance behind to see if the bronze had recovered his position and grounf. Not that it mattered one way or another, he was hardly going to come up to the pair now and wrench his darling Sable from out of his grasp. Still, it was satisfying to think he had thwarted the cocky bronze.
He pulled the green against him tight, his claws entangled within her own, his tail wrapped around her lithe frame. All thoughts of weariness blown from his mind in this moment of pure joy as he cradled the beautiful green in his wings, the lust spurring him on and giving him the strength to direct their descent somewhat so they could enjoy the moment before the approaching ground would attempt to throw them asunder. All too soon the blur of green and brown that had been trees faded, until only the dark green of some of the taller bushes rushed past. Untangling himself gently, and unwillingly, Cacao released the green giving them both mere seconds to pull out of the descent.
