Take your mind back a few hundred years. Back before The Time War, before Rose Tyler, Sarah Jane Smith and even Susan Foreman. I’m talking all the way back, back to when The Doctor was a kid known as Theta Sigma, a different boy to the man we all know and admire.
Life on Gallifrey is like anywhere else, the children go to school from the age of eight. The Time Academies have high standards and the constant competition to go from a novice to a Time Lord or Lady is stressful but how the society works.
However, as sure as the twin suns will rise in the morning, the teenagers of the academies have found this stage of their life confusing and troublesome. Theta Sigma, the boy with no real name, is failing his classes. Love relationships are getting complicated, with plenty of guys competing for the girls and visa versa. Professors are getting involved with students in ways they shouldn’t. Bribery, cheating, lies and backstabbing are now common amongst what used to be strong friendship groups.
This is their story, the story of how it all came to be. How Theta Sigma became The Doctor, a man worthy of admiration, how Koschei became The Master, changed from being Theta’s best friend to his worst enemy, how Ushas got banished from Gallifrey for her lab rats and took on the name of The Rani and how everyone became the characters we know and love.
