The jungle of Eden was much diffrent than the pair had imagined it would be. So many more plant varieties, so many more little bugs and vermin. So much more of everything! The pair wanted to explore, wanted to find a place... any place... that might serve them well in their time to come. A damp, dark place to grow their supply of Dragonspores. They were running a tad low, and needed a spot that perfectly mimicked New Cove Weyr's Forbidden Caverns. How else could they sustain their high? And keep their abilities growing. Harinzzat already achieved a low-level of telepathy. He could sometimes 'hear' dragons near him, but mostly it was on an emotion-level. At New Cove he had been near when Silvyth had Risen, and it was all he could do to not throw himself at the nearest female in the percentage of dragon-lust he felt. Fortunantly the nearest female was Cris, and he knew the risks of showing any attraction towards her at any given moment.
The pair pushed forward through the dense underbrush- Cris leading the way. She was holding a scythe and used it to cut at the brush and hack at the vines in her way. Harinzzat followed, his mind searching ahead and behind for any and all life forms. his sensitive ears were perked and listening for any suspicious noises... other than the swish-hack-cling of Cris' scythe. He remained silent, a portion of his mind steadily concentrating on Cris, waiting for any activity within her mind that might mean she found a place for their spores to grow.
Deeper and deeper into the jungle; father and farther away from Eden Weyr. It was almost too far for Harinzzat to 'feel' the Weyr's inhabitants, so he deftly tapped Cris on the shoulder and motioned with his angular head to the right. Cris grimaced, turning about and started to hack away at the branches and leaves in that direction before Harinzzat grabbed at her mind with a steady but loud thought- 'NO!'. "We are leaving a trail," he said out-loud, knowing that Cris couldn't yet hear his thoughts towards her. She, like himself towards dragons, could only 'feel' emotions. "Just push through and try not to leave a trail, we're getting close to a nice spot... I can feel it..." he finished, nodding at her to continue.
Cris snorted at the normally quiet man-child, but obeyed and began to pick at the vines and branches so her large bulk could slip between them. Not too far... and lo and behold! Harinzzat was right. There... right in the hollowed-out trunk of a tree. It was a small hole... but as Cris bent down and shoved her scythe in it- it felt large inside. Her pleasure emenated from her in waves so strong that Harinzzat couldn't help but smile broadly, taking the shoulder-pack off his back and setting it down gently.
"These are the good spores, and this is a good location," Cris said smugly, her voice deep and thick with a southern accent. Compared to Harinzzat she was quite dull... but compared to her before the 'spores, she was now rather intellegent.
Harinzzat nodded, crouching down and opening the pack. Within were several large dragonspores, three of which he plucked out. He looked up at Cris, waiting for her okay. She nodded, poiting at the small hole with her scythe. He nodded, now completely involved with planting the 'spores. He wasn't pahying any attention to his surroundings as he dug small trenches, opened the spores one by one, and deposited the seeds. His smile was bright and wild, the spores were having an effect on his mind. Slowly he was becomming more and more insane... all the while becomming more and more intellegent and telepathic. Sooner or later the poor child would go out-right mental... but it was a long way off and totally avoidable... if only.
word count: 669
Characters: Cris and Harinzzat (candidates)
Notes: This would be the way for anyone at Eden to get in on the 'spore action. As of right now 'spores are free... but not for long. They have considerable side-effects, so please read up on them. =DD
side Note: Dragonspores would have zero affect on Eden Dragons, as there are no Cannon colors here and they only mutate cannon colors.
