Well it's the story of the two Always on the move They got nothing left to lose Except their guns and their wounds A stiff wind blew against upturned faces of both Frost and rider, ruffling the red mane which fell from the head of the girl, and the artic fur which protected the unnerside of the Frost, as well as her paws. Swirling eyes depicted eagerness, excitement, and the dragon bent low to alow her rider to haul herself astride.
Raluca in place, Rukbat hanging above and making their icy world glitter gloriously, Junakyth tossed her head and bugled for but a moment before she crouched, digging her claws into the ground and then thrusting herself away, over the ledge atop the Weyr to let the pair free fall wildly. Raluca's jubilant cries mingled with Junakyth's own happy sounds, swept away from their mouths by the wind. It was unlike anything else in the world, the sensation of being weightless, of being so utterly free. Even flying you had a weight, you had limitations. She knew because she had, on rare occasion, been astride winged beasts and carried from point A to point B. It was nice, sure, but it was nothing compared to what she felt with Junakyth.
The rider gathered her feet beneath her, bracing them against Junakyth's strong neck, and then kicked off, falling now above and separated from her Frost. Not entirely though. Customized riding straps still connected her to the Frost, making the display a little less dangerous. Not by much. Be careful Mine! Junakyth's alarmed voice rang into Raluca's head. Be at ease, m'love. These straps are new and strong, remember? Junakyth had been with her when she'd bouth the heavily braided straps, but it seemed the Frost hadn't connected the purchase with her rider's safety. In mind, the dragon was much like the canon colors, not nearly as intelligent as most mutations seemed to be, childlike in nature. Just don't get hurt. Junakyth's plaintive statement caused Raluca to sigh, grabbing her straps and hauling herself back to the frost's neck, securing herself against the thick hide of her bonded. Better? Yes. Much.
They fel for a little longer, before Junakyth twisted herself, grabbing purchase in the slick wall of ice they fell alongside and slowing them. Her large paws all found the surface, claws digging into it as the now slid along the slick surface in a controlled manner, Junakyth altering their descent as needed and Raluca coaching her along. An onlooker not familiar with the pair might think them in danger. Thankfully most of the Weyr knew of them, due to first the issues in Weyrlinghood and later the various acts such as this one they now did. It was a common sight for them, in their free time, to do things to seek out a rush of adrenaline.
The ground was fast approaching, and Junakyth lowered her head and started to bunch her muscles, ready when at the last moment she shoved off the ice, sending them both airbourn again. With a mighty thud they landed, Junakyth's paws hittin the ground in a gentle lope to help absorb the shock of impact.
Raluca's triumphant whoop was joined by Junakyth warbling happily, the both of them showing obvious physical signs of victory. With their hearts both pounding in their ears and Raluca's face red rom both excitement and the crisp wind, they made their way through the Weyrbowl, looking for somewhere to properly collapse and revel in what they'd done.

For once, E'zera and Gavrielsith had opted to stay in the Weyr in their downtime, instead of going wandering off. Gavriel was feeling peckish, and since earlier in the day on their ground-sweep they had run into a herd of snowsweepers and hunted well, the Weyr was in no shortage of food.
In cases like that serendipitous hunt, many on the Weyr found E'zera a useful person to have around. He remembered the animal migration patterns from his childhood roaming the Wastes, and the hunting and trapping strategies he had learned as a matter of course came in quite handy. He and Gavriel made a deadly team; splitting up, E'zera could move silently to get behind the prey-beasts. If he stayed still in the snow, Gavriel resembled a great, craggy ice formation, and could lie in wait for his rider to ambush the herd and drive them on.
With two adult snowsweepers, the Weyr would be eating well, and E'zera had some new bones to carve. He was somewhat famous for his whittlings; half his wing sported bone or driftwood adze pendants, and many others wore fishhooks, dolphin-tails, and spiraling pendants. He was the only one with a greenstone, since though that variant of jade was nonprecious, it was hard to find. He had a few spare lumps of greenstone, but those were saved for special occasions or particularly lucrative commissions.
That was what that particular afternoon saw him doing: working away at an oblong sliver of bone, coaxing it into the chisel-shape of an adze. He was working on the shallow notch around which he would wrap cord into an artful pattern to ensure that the pendant remained in place on the necklace.
The cold-hardy woollies and wherries that served as fodder for the Weyr's dragons kicked up a bleating, squawking fuss as Gavriel descended among them. Hunting wild was, if anything, less of a challenge than chasing around the penned beasts, since he had no way to use the terrain to his advantage here. Instead, he had to get clever. Instead of being surreptitious about it, he blundered right up to them, setting them into a panic that had them milling about aimlessly. A few got trampled, and once one or two went down under the crowd, he shooed the mass away and picked up the injured ones. He had made hunting effortlessly an art form.
The big frost had gotten through most of his midday snack when, from high above, came a playful sound and then elongated cries of elation. E'zera looked up, expecting to see an energetic glacier frisking about in the open sky above the Bowl, but instead, he saw a frost and her rider plummeting like stones from the top of a cliff face making up the Bowl's walls.
Gavriel looked up as well, and the two studied the sight for a moment. E'zera recognized the pair after a moment and, even though he didn't completely disregard their antics, he dismissed the moment of panic. That particular pair were known for their shenanigans. He'd been around when the two made a name for themselves for being the class clowns of their weyrling wing, and he knew that at least the frost had a decent head for betweening from heights. He and Gavriel had never tried such a thing, and had no intention of doing so. Gavriel liked being on the ground, thank you very much.
Gav continued studying the female frostpair for a moment after his rider had reached his conclusion, then blinked to himself and returned to eating. He was unconcerned, but not because he recognized them; he saw that they were not afraid, and seemed as in-control of the situation as one could be when flightless and falling hundreds of dragonlengths. He sensed only excitement from the other frost: she was confident that she knew what she was doing, and that was good enough for Gavrielsith.
They landed with a resounding thud that made E'zera glad he had lifted the knife away from his mostly-finished carving to save it from being nicked by the jarring impact. The female frostpair wandered, tipsy from excitement, in the general direction of E'zera and Gavriel, and neither of them minded. Raluca and Junakyth looked happy to be alive and that was good for them.
Gavriel looked up again, leaning his head to the side in contemplation, then reached out to mindtouch Junakyth casually. That was well executed. It was as enjoyable to watch as it must have been to experience. Most everyone else looked askance at the female frostpair for their antics, but Gavriel rather liked watching them. They were entertaining to observe.

Junakyth's head lifted in surprise as Gavrielsith spoke to her. Normally she wasn't really spoken to a whole lot. Oh, the normal stuff was fine and dandy, but... Well for someone to say something complimentary about her behaviour was unusual, to say the very least. Once the initial surprise had passed and she registered who had spoken to her, the Frost who had lost his mate Turns ago, she dipped her head in a modest bow. Dropping a shoulder for Raluca to slide off, the Frost was eager to talk to the male.
She was aware he wasn't a particularly social creature, it was her understanding that he much prefered his time to be spent away from the Weyr, and from the memories which likely haunted him every moment he spent within the cold confines of his home. She felt bad for the big Frost, and if she could perhaps brighten his day a little, well then by gosh she'd do it!
Junakyth nudged Raluca away to wander off and find herself a place to sit not too far from E'zera, an easy location from which to observe what he was doing without being too nosey or in the way. With her rider safely occupied, the smaller Frost turned her attention back to Gavrielsith. Thank you, though nothing compares to actually doing it. It's like... Well it's like flying. At least I imagine it is. Sadly I doubt if ever I'll know what that is really like. Her wistful tone implied she wanted to fly like the winged dragons they were related to. The pettite Frost padded towards Gavrielsith, her eyes shifting momentarily to the herds as if considering chasing down some food. She was still high on adrenaline though, and it would make her a little too excited to properly hunt. She'd spend more time trying to narrow down the options, and end up with stressed, stringy meat for all her work. Better to wait for a little bit until she was calmed once again. You should try it sometime. I could teach you She brightened at this thought, having someone else to join the fun and accompany her in her antics.

When Junakyth expressed surprise that he would address her - or rather, address her without disapproval for her stunt - Gavriel's lower jaw parted slightly, and he rumbled a slow chuckle. She assured him that the experience was exhilarating, and he snorted. If I was meant to fly, I would not have been born a frost. You may enjoy yourself by leaping from great heights, but I would prefer to keep all my limbs on the ground. I haven't the need to frighten myself witless. His eyes spun with wry greens and teals.
Seeing the smaller frost cast a glance at the feeding pens, Gavriel graciously took the wherry he had not yet torn into and tossed it at Junakyth's paws. The fodderbeasts were certain to be especially gamey after his hunt having stirred them into a frenzy, and they would have to be given a little time to settle before the flesh was acceptably tender. He had taken more than he needed, and though he was not so full that he couldn't have eaten the wherry, it was better to give it to one who seemed more hungry than he. Best not to waste food.
While his dragon showed an uncommon level of sociability, E'zera continued carving until the adze pendant was perfect. Then, setting aside the knife, he set about wrapping it in cord in a simple, overlapping pattern. After tightening it with a few sharp tugs, he tucked the finished product into his belt pouch. Once the recipient of this commission got off watch duty, he'd finish the transaction. And then, maybe, he'd go back to that greenstone double-twist he'd been working on. That one would fetch him a few good marks from the trader, who would charge an extortionate price for it at the next Gather.
At that point, E'zera seemed to remember that Raluca was nearby, for only then did he look up toward the younger woman. "Good afternoon," he greeted casually. "Feeling better now that you've had your daily adrenaline rush?" Dry humor pervaded his voice, but not in any recriminating way. Like Gavriel, he found the female frostpair's antics rather amusing. They had proven themselves capable of getting themselves out of whatever trouble they got into, and since so far they had hurt neither themselves or anyone else very seriously, he saw nothing wrong with their behavior. Junakyth rumbled merrily as Gavrielsith made wry comment, the swirling hues of his eyes expressing his mischievous amusement. When he wasn't broody miserably, he could be rather fun to be around, she surmised. The wherry tossed at her paws was taken without hesitation, though she was grateful for his generosity. Thanks. I wouldn't trust myself to hunt well just yet, and the herd has to calm alnyways. She happily tore into the beast, neatly eating and keeping as clean as possible. It never did well to make a mess of oneself, especially when it was still too cold for a proper scrubbnig from Raluca. The Frost ate quickly, leaving nothing to waste, and when she as finish a sated sigh breezed from her maw and she stretched happily. She felt so very lovely now, with food in her belly and her muscles now feeling comfortably worked from her play before, it was hard to think of a better place to be.
I don't think you could ever be witless, Gavrielsith. She tossed a wry smirk in his direction, eyes reflecting similar teals and greens as his. She may not be the very brightest, but she did have her own sens eof humour. But I suppose you're right. The Weyr can't handle too many dragons throwing themselves off cliffs or Betweening at early ages. She knew she'd caused a lot of trouble with her determination, but it wasn't for bad reasons. Occasionally she met someone who actually recognized her for what she was.
Raluca smiled when E'zera finished what he was working on ad turned his attention to her. His greeting and comment were humorous. She recognized the tone he used, and found it entertaining. "Yeah, we just can't seem to enjoy our off time if we aren't doing something stupid." She chuckled softly, her eyes dancing brightly. Unlike many women, Raluca had an exotic charm about her which was never abset. Her hair was likely a large part of it. It wasn't something she strove for, however. "You're very god at your carvings. Junakyth and I've been thinking about asking if you would make us something. A little charm to tie to out straps. Seems this is the first time I've had a chance to runa cross yoy one on one though." She offered a lopsided smile, countered by a slight tilt of her head as she gazed fondly at her dragon for a moment before looking back at E'zera.

Gavriel watched Junakyth eat the wherry he had offered, and when she had finished it, he gave her his response to her comments. Oh, it is quite easy to scatter my wits across the Wastes. You may enjoy the sensation of falling, but it gives me the collywobbles. The ice creaks and groans so under my weight, and I fear that one day it will refuse to bear me and give way. Perhaps I need to lose weight? Do tell me how you keep yourself so trim, that I may become as slender.
Gavrielsith made a show of leaning his head to the side and scanning his gaze across her lithe body. Mischief still wheeled in his eyes, but he was not blind to an attractive female. Sarith was long gone, and he had accepted and gotten over his grief. Though he had no real intention of pairing off with anyone, he still had his needs, as did E'zera even if the man was less philosophical about it.
Ignoring his dragon's sly flirting, E'zera smiled in response to Raluca's comment. "Thank you kindly. It's an old hobby, but it gets me some extra marks to spend. What design would you be looking for? I happen to have quite a bit of material to work with at the moment, so it's your choice." The prospect of another commission pleased him. He wasn't exactly a workaholic, but having his hands idle for too long wasn't something he preferred.

Junayth's jaw dropped open and her eyes spun with faint surpriseas Gavrielsith flirted so charmingly with her. She ws not expecting that now! Her nostrils flared gentley and she eyed him with mingled pleasure and wariness. She knew he chased females still, all males had needs after all, but she was months from Rising so there was no real need to try and curry her favour right now. Yet here he was being just as charming as could be.
She shifted herself shyly, turning her head to glance at her naturally trim figure. She was a smaller Frost, she knew that, and as active as she was it was hard for her to keep much weight on, even if she were to act a hog when she ate. Were she a human she might have blushed, instead she gave a light rumble to try and distract from her sudden bought of shyness.
Well, you don't look too heavy, I mean... You're big, for a Frost, but... Um... She was stumbling over what to say to the male. She wasn't accustomed to being flattered unless she was charging across the ice with the need to mate making her blood boil. Sweet words were cast her way then in masses, usually to try and keep her from coaxing her chasers into perilous stunts in order for them to prove themselves to her. Not that she'd ever really put one in danger for his life... But a little imagined threat from nature never hurt anything. I seem to be making a right fool of myself, don't I? She hung her head and tilted it slightly in a comical manner, wondering if he'd just laugh at her and walk away right about now, or take pity on her and stick it out for a little longer.
Raluca smiled brightly when E'zera seemed willing to take on another project. Maybe she and Junakyth really would get a lovely little charm, for luck of course. "Well, I was thinking something relatively simple. A little winged dragon, so that while Jun and I are off trying to break our necks we'll have a pair of wings to keep us aloft." It was a silly thing, she knew, but somehow it seemed right to her. Just as it had seemed right to be a dragonrider.

At Junakyth's reaction of surprise, Gavriel let his lower jaw gape open in a draconic smile. He didn't laugh at her discomfiture, though he did seem pleased that he had managed to fluster the younger frost. He generously waited for her to gather her wits again, then told her kindly, We can be clumsy oafs together, then. Between us we might just make a properly-functioning dragon. He rumbled a soft chuckle at his own self-deprecating joke and sat up to stretch like a canine.
E'zera leaned his head to the side, tapping one finger on the side of his jaw in thought. "A flying dragon good luck charm? I can do that; it might take a bit of time to get the details down, but it's doable. Would you prefer it in bone or wood? The driftwood would be slightly more expensive." He almost wanted her to order a wooden pendant, for carving wood was slightly more of a challenge for him, especially with detailed work. He was ready for a challenge after doing several bone adzes and fishhooks.

Raluca grinned like a fool as E'zera said he might be able to fill her request. She knew it was a foolish thing to be so thrilled about, but the idea had been pestering her for some time, recognizing how lucky she and Junakyth often were when they were pulling their ridiculous though sinfully fun stunts. Having a physical manifestation or reminder of that luck would do the pair good. "Oh, take as long as you need. I'm not one to rush anyways, at least not things which are better with time." She smirked playfully, more comfortable with vague flirting than Junakyth was. "And I think wood would be nice. I see so many people with bone charms, and while the greenstone is lovely it seems like it would clash with Junakyth's coloring. " She glanced to her Frost, who was starting to settle and had arched her neck coyly while talking to Gavrielsith.
Once more she was reminded of how very lovely her dragon was, on the small side, built beautifully, and so sturdy and sure-footed that they had never had a genuinely bad slip in thir lives. She also found herself thinking that she would like to give Junakyth a proper bath soon. Perhaps they could make a short trip a little bit South, or to a nearby Hold, where it was a tad warmer and clean her beloved up there. She snapped her attention back to E'zera sheepishly. "So, how much would it cost me?"
Junakyth rumbled in delight at Gavrielsith's joke, and his own laughter. She like him a good bit more than the Frosts who were utterly smitten with another female. He was willing to treat her like a proper female. This was fun.
I don't know... That would take a whole lot of effort, and it seems very few enjoy tolerating my company enough to spend that much time around me. We'd have to be best of friends to work together enough to make a properly functioning dragon. A mostly functional dragon seems like it would be more up your alley. She kenw the odds of him ever feeling strongly enough about anything save for His to devote much time to it was low. That was natural for a male Frost who had lost it's mate to death. As such she was able to blithely make comments which risked sounding vaguely petulant at fate but were, in fact, almost purely jesting.

Gavrielsith rumbled a chuckle at Junakyth's statement. Ah, I think we could make it work. You could be the lissome, attractive body, and I could be the wise, steady mind. Though I think it might be a bit awkward to assemble everything properly. He projected an image of himself perched precariously atop her head, and she struggling to stay balanced with the much larger frost clinging to her horn. But you underestimate yourself, sweet creature. It is the fault of others not to see how enjoyable it is to speak with you; that is their loss, and very much my gain. From joking right back to flirting; Gavriel was in top form today.
E'zera nodded in agreement with Raluca's choice. The gray-brown would suit the colors of their fighting straps against Junakyth's light hide well; the greenstone would have added a nice contrast, but the price he would charge for that would have been outside what she would have been willing to pay. Most people only asked for greenstones if they were planning to give it to their human partner as a physical token of a lifelong union.
He had made matching greenstone infinity-twists for himself and Kaila when they made their relationship official. His was tucked away in his weyr, put to rest as he had Kaila's memory.
Raluca's gaze seemed to wander for a moment, and E'zera was fine with that. He took the moment's silence to consider how much he should charge for this commission, so when Raluca turned back to him and asked, he had an answer for her.
"As an estimate right now, I'll say one mark. Once I have the finished product, that price may go up or down, depending on how long it took me and if I need to go back and make alterations to suit your order." Compared to what the traders charged for the pendants he sold them, one mark for the driftwood was pretty cheap, especially considering that the carving itself would be as intricate as the tikis he occasionally was asked to make. The mental image Gavrielsith gave her caused Junakyth to start rumbling uncontrolled laughter. It was an absolutely hysterical image, of the larger male attempting to balance on the pettite female, and she could just see them trying to move about the Weyr. To share her mirth with someone else, Junakyth gave the same image to Raluca, who promptly sputtered and laughed. It took a few moments for the Frost to recover enough to think clearly, and when she did she gazed at Gavrielsith with amusement. As ridiculous as that is i don't think it could work any other way. You're so very clever I have no chance at being the brain of our situation. She tossed her head and rumbled once more, still picturing the pair of them as he'd shown her. That really was something else.
Oddly, she found herself rather charmed by the big Frost. It wasn't really a surprise, but she'd never taken a great deal of interest in males unless she was about to Rise. Even then, only when her paws started to move and she left the Weyr to charge across the open ice did she take a keen interest.
Raluca, once recovered from her sputtere dlaughter, blushed deeply and shook her head. "Jun showed me an image of Gavrielsith perched on her head... I'm not entirely sure why and frankly I'm afraid to ask, but it was rather entertaining." She chuckled and managed finally to stop entirely. "One mark sounds fine." She smiled and nodded. "I can't wait to see what you end up with. She was honest about this. His work was beautiful and now that she'd commisioned him for her project she was eager to see how it would turn out.

As the female frostpair burst into hysteric laughter, E'zera quirked an eyebrow in bemusement and looked to Gavrielsith. Do you have any idea what they're laughing at?
Gavriel answered by sending his rider the same image. Due to a combination of the ridiculous image, and the infectious laughter coming from Raluca and Junakyth, E'zera also dissolved into a fit of mirth.
Gavriel gaped his jaw open and rumbled laughter of his own, eyes spinning happily. It pleased him inordinately to amuse them all so, and he curled his tail around his legs smugly. E'zera nearly lost it again just to sense his dragon's response just as he was beginning to rein in his chuckles.
E'zera wiped a hand across his face, as if to keep his lips closed around the giggles that threatened to bubble up. "I think it was just Gav acting the fool like always." He ignored Gavrielsith's mock-indignant snort. "He sent me the same image. Not sure what exactly prompted it, but it was amusing nonetheless."
This 'fool' is doing more to charm the lovely young ladies than you are, spoilsport, so hush, Gavriel said to His, mind-voice heavy with mock-scolding.
His rider appropriately chastised, Gavriel returned his attention to Junakyth and tilted his head. Indeed? But it would be unfair to deny everyone the pleasure of speaking with a charming lady like you.

Raluca grinned foolishly as E'zera explained Gavrielsith, a little bit. She appreciated this a great deal. It was a nice reprieve from the normal droll of life in the Weyr, where the only real break for fun was when she and Junakyth found something interesting to do. It was odd, all things considered, since she was a fairly laid-back person, that she so enjoyed such moments. "Well whatever brought it on, it was most amusing and a welcomed thing. Laughter is good for the heart after all. Keeps it strong. So... Are the two of you doing anything later today? Jun an I were thinking of packing some food and heading out of the Weyr for a bit, have a picnic for dinner. She's found some spectacular places that aren't that hard to get to." Raluca, not realizing it was possible for her invitation to be miscontrued, offered for them to join because she enjoyed their company. It would make dinner more fun with the pair to keep ehr and Junakyth company. She hadn't spoken with intent on it sounding like a date, but it dawned on her, and she promptly threw a hand over her mouth and stammered an apology. "I mean... I wasn't asking you to join us as a romantic interest or anything, just.. Well you two are good company and the both of us like to share some of the places we stumble across with people, and... I'm rambling." The last was said blankly and she closedh er eyes, shaking her head with silent laughter.
"I'm not normally so flustered, or so ineloquent. As a friend, would you and Gavrielsith like to join us for dinner tonight?" That was a little better, all things considered.
Junakyth picked up on this and brightened eagerly, her attention on Gavrielsith. You really should come, Gavrielsith. I know lots of lovely places that are easy enough to reach. You wouldn't even have to worry about falling through the ice or anything of the sort. Her wheeling eyes were fixed on him hopefully, and she had much the appearance of a canine pup waiting for a wondeful treat.

When Racula initially extended her offer, he tilted his head in thought. Leaving the Weyr for an excursion was, with little exception, an activity in which he partook alone with Gavrielsith. Going with someone else, when the habit was to take much-needed alone time - while not unpalatable, considering the pleasantness of the company - was something E'zera considered turning down.
Then, Raluca suddenly started speaking again, and E'zera's brows beetled slightly in confusion until he realized the reason behind her tone. Well, he actually hadn't taken the offer in that way, and certainly her reaction when she realized the untaken implication was enough to indicate that she truly hadn't meant it that way.
Once she had her composure back and re-worded her statement, E'zera smiled slightly. "Honestly, I didn't even think of it that way until you mentioned it." He wasn't upset, only mildly amused at her reaction. True, most people who had lost loved ones were touchy when they were not interested in another person, but neither E'zera nor Gavriel saw any reason to spurn others because of an unchangeable past event.
Gavriel rumbled contemplatively, leaning his head to the side as Junakyth added her voice to the female frostpair's request. He gently touched his rider's mind. I think we should go, Ezra. It would be nice to do something different for a change. Besides, I am rather enjoying my conversation with the lovely Junakyth. E'z'ra was a nickname that Gavriel often used, and was the only one privileged with its use, just as E'zera was the only one who called the big frost Gav.
Well, if Gav wanted to go, why not? Ez'era nodded slightly. "We'd love to go. Where should we meet you to head out?"

Consent was given, and though Raluca managed not to jump up happily, Junakyth failed at the task. The Frost bounced happily about for a moment before settling back down sheepishly, offering only a shrug in explanation. She liked people in general, and if the company was good, so much the better.
Raluca thought for a moment as to time, and when she had herself a suiteable answer she pointed to the North. "Well, since we were planning on taking off that way, we should probably leave about an hour to an hour and a half before sundown. It'll give us plenty of time to get there and get settled, without lacking light since I don't know if you two have gone that way before. I'll take care of the food and drinks, if there's anything specific you want just let me know. All you two will need to do is be up at the Meeting Hall and ready to go on time."
It wouldn't be hard to grab a sack with food and drinks, more likely than not a skin of wine as klah would be frigid by the time they were ready to eat. They could always build a fire, and with this in mind Raluca decided she'd bring both, as well as some timber to burn.
